Re: Underground Hardcore Genre Names
Also "breakcore" specially with some earlier production if about Satan
About Slowcore I understood it's a word that belongs much more to the Rock/Hardcore punk background. People probably used it on comments because making confusion with Doomcore or slower Industrial Hardcore.
Darkcore as it had been explained earlier was used much more in the past years to define those mainstream Hardcore tracks with a darker atmosphere but with darkcore you can even define a subgenre of jungle, nothing to do with hardcore at all again.
About "Creature-come little closer" can be defined still as Doomcore but with some other influences. But roughly still is on industrial hardcore sphere.

SOMEONE MAKE A GUIDE TO HARDCORE PLZ

I might be able to help you. I know this reply is coming way too late but better late than never.

So this is the page of my blog that's dedicated to Hardcore. Likewise this is the main list that has the same genre list (both are mostly chronological) but is designed to be a little better visually (image and short definition then links). I try to cover the history chronologically and with a lot of sources and then playlists to go with them (youtube and spotify). I often revisit them later so if people have feedback i'm always open for improving any.

So you're mainly asking about the Industrial side of music and the Darker side of Hardcore.Trantix wrote:Hey guys,
I've been getting more into the underground hardcore genres and I've been hearing different genre names thrown around for what a song is. Can anyone clear up what these genres generally are:
-Industrial Hardcore
-Industrial (I've heard it's technically different)
-Industrial Techno
-Doomcore (I've heard it used for much slower industrial like 100 bpm but then also 130bpm hardcore)
-Darkcore
-Slowcore
Sorry if this isn't in the right location for the topic.
Industrial Music has its own lineage outside of Hardcore and many say that Industrial was only the very first wave of Noise based artists and not all the dance-able stuff after (EBM, Electro Industrial, Industrial Rock, etc) but I really think that's silly and very limiting.

Industrial Techno is more on the Techno side of the genres and was initially called the Birmingham Sounds based off it being the point of its origin. It's really cool music and is dark and distorted. I have a set for modern Dark Techno (a new trend) and also for HardTechno/Schranz which mixes Techno near hardcore speeds and hardness. Good stuff.

Now out of the Darker Hardcore wings there's Industrial Hardcore which is dark and distorted and does carry over a little bit of attitude and technique from Industrial music while still being fully a Hardcore genre. Then there's Doomcore which goes a much slower route (generally 140 bpm and lower), it avoids the distortion of Industrial Hardcore and goes for a barren gothic type of hardcore sound, a lighter reverbed kick, plenty of dark ambient moments and melodies. Finally (if you believe in it) there's a scene called Darkcore that is the gap in-between those 2. It goes for the slower tempo and barren vibe of Doomcore but has the hard and distorted kicks of Industrial Hardcore. Some ignore Darkcore but like the other 2 it has its own history while still occasionally crossing over to the same labels and artists.

Hope this helps anyone interested in any of these genres or others.

And as always if someone think I've missed out on an important artist, release, or a point of a set please let me know. Feedback is one of the things i rarely get and its up to those who are knowledgeable to set the record straight when a history lesson is missing a paragraph or two.

Thank you! I recently redid the Hardcore page on the blog and did them in groups which I think worked pretty well together. Feel free for anyone to weigh in. https://rymboxset.blogspot.com/2018/06/hardcore.htmlXurreal wrote:Thanks for the effortFreewave wrote:So this is the page of my blog that's dedicated to Hardcore. I'm still trying to decide if to put HardTechno/Schranz under Hard Dance, Hardcore, or not include at all?

Slowcore is term for Hardcore, Doomcore, Techno, and related genres, below 126 bpm, sometimes even as slow as 1 bpm (or slower).Trantix wrote: 04 Feb 2018, 03:44 Hey guys,
