Yeah it most definitely works to have sound design only days, awesome :)
Never really treated sound design apart from track making, but this might help out a lot.

Cant give you ideas because I work just on 1 project or track, never two or more (I guess that limits me so I never stop doing the work until I finish it)
Weak of energy? in case it is because of bad mixing go and mix well the already done part, in case of lack of ideas it is good to write first what you are going to work on (sounds-structure-feelings..)

I highly enjoy just spending hours sound desgining building my library.

What I do hate is when you are working on a track then get another cool idea and start working on a second track lol end up with 3-4 half finshed tracks.

THIS is happening most of the time to me and my mate ... we just started 2 tracks this week and now we have a down again, we really cant continue working on both tracks, because nothing will satisfy us ... =( MILLIONS of half finished tracks in our project folders ...so annoying

Hahah, this happens to me as well. I have started a ton of tracks that haven't seen work done to them in ages. Usually because I become distracted with sound design and end up just doing that.

EDIT: Sorry for the bump, misread the dates the posts were made.

I think every producer/artist/composer knows the feeling;

First the euphoric face melt when you've made something you had never expected from yourself.
Then the day after you listen to your shit again and it sucks as h*ll. :O You get frustrated, angry, sad, everything at the same time.

-----------------------

So recognizeable for me. Since I completed my school a while ago I started to work. I had a conversation with my boss and he knows I'm bussy with the music. Not only being a car mechanic. So he offered me a part-time contract so I got the time to develop myself for the music.

I'm free every monday and thuesday to work on my music, that's really nice! I also have to say that I've learned a lot in a short period, but it also got his negative side. What if you wake up early in the morning and you've got no inspiration to do anything... Nothing will succeed and besided that your computer is crashing more than one time. That's what I have/had to deal with at the moment.

Because I've lots of more time to 'waste' haha, it's like I'm kind of having that confuse where Audiofreq talked about. Got it more controlled already, but at first I really had to get used to it.

I'm still struggling with myself because it's hard for me to finish things and when I mean finish, I mean that it's completely FINISHED. Ambition is a good thing, but perhaps I've over-reached a little bit. But it's so hard for me to finish things which I'm not sure about.

:fist:

I often start a Track that (imo) first sounds way better than everything I did before. When I try to finish it, it gets worse with every listen and I start hating it. Then I just save it in my project files folder and stays there, like all the other 100 FLP's.

Isn't that stupid? :/

Try rebooting projects that you think have good ideas in them. That's how I used to finish my tracks the last couple of months.

Productions have been a lot better lately. Haven't had a bad week in a good while :)
