BUT: what u expect of splitting the Genre officialy?

i mean SHM, David Guetta and so on (Big Room) is officialy labeled as House... while it has nothing to do with classic house tunes...

in terms of Subgenres we also already have a split;
there is RAWstyle and Nustyle(call it trance or whatever)...

imo this discussion dont rly have any reason... or do u need some official split to feel harder/ more underground?

Why does the names of the genres even matter? Sorry, but I don't get the meaning of classifying music in that way.
I mean of course putting music in boxes are needed, but why should you split the box into different boxes?
Nustyle is happier hardstyle, early hardstyle is early hardstyle (obv.) and rawstyle is more raw hardstyle?
Okay I get it, when there is such a big difference between the undergenres, as there are in Crossbreed for instance.

Had to make a topic on this, im tired of seeing people saying that Skrillex isn't Dubstep or X isn't a Hardstyle (even heard it being said about Headhunterz).

I want to know where you are coming from when you say this. It seems that if people don't follow the status quo, for example dubstep is 140bpm with a staggered drum beat and wob wobs and wub wubs, and now that Skrillex has took the template and added a few extra sounds and made it a bit more dancey its somehow not dubstep. It is in my opinion, just an evolved kind of dubstep.

I hate this crap with Nustyle, Darkstyle, Etcstyle, at least when its used to say that something isnt HARDstyle.

I don't think it is a bad thing for someone to experiment with adding new sounds as long as the template is still there (ie not trying to make a hardstyle song with a dubstep drum beat lol).

So i challenge this, if Skrillex or whoever isnt dubstep, and whoever isnt Hardstyle - what genre do they belong to then? Pretty much guarantee that you'll be like 'Oh, wait, i guess it is Dubstep then 'cause it doesn't fit into any other genre'

I don't pretty much care. If it sounds good it's enough. Of course music needs to evolve, but I am not that kind of person who goes "this is just genre x with hardstyle kick in it" that's bullshit. If the track is made by an artist who produces hardstyle, but the track has some influences from other genres, it's an different genre? That's like if you put seasoning and vegetables to go with an nice slice of meat, it isn't meat then? The meat is the main ingredient!

Get the idea? The main ingredient is hardstyle or whatever genre it is! Because influences, tempo and new elements don't change the original. Hardstyle has evolved a lot from what it was, but it's still hardstyle, doesn't matter if it has cheesy melodies, sing-alongs, raw screeches and bad/good kicks, it's still hardstyle!

mixing genres together is alright, but if you do like Sweclubberz, using lots of trance and ambient music together with a hardstyle kick and 150 bpm, does it make it hardstyle just because it has a hs kick and the same bpm? while the rest of the track is trance? im not hating on him (i like some of his music) but it is definately not just hardstyle. same with noisecontrollers pavelow quatre mains, it has a hs kick but rest of the track is dubstep, even the climax part or anti-climax w/e we should call it in this track, is actually just dubstep, not even a hs kick here.

2. What a producer makes is up to him.

4. People like ''Hardstyle died years ago blahh blahh'' Well, if hardstyle died in you eyes? Why do YOU still care?
5. Hardstyle IS Hardstyle, when you see a track like ''Noisecontroller & Pavelow'' you can expect a little bit diffrence in their track?
6. Why is every gerne in your eyes in hardstyle? Pop, Dubstep, House, Trance and more. Hardstyle was created by tuning up house with an higher BPM right?

Their is been an research about experts blahh blahh, that music from your past is always better than it is now because of the memorie's or when you have heard that track for the first time is great, getting chills and goosebumps over you arm's now you don't get that feeling, cuz everytime you want something better right?
8. I think hardstyle back then was evolving so much, take a look at NOW, and THEN. Then it was not uhm, (I wanna say this friendly) Then it wasn't that High-Tech like it is now, i mean now the sounds are so different than in that time. music changes, it always does.

When any genre evolves as you keep pointing out it developes sub genres, There can still be a blanket term like "rock" but there are many types of rock music. Just like there are different types of hardstyle nowadays.

Depends. Just went to a swedish site that sell hamburger meat and other stuff to check it out..
The hamburger meat with most % meat in it had 94%.
People who have tasted this 94% meat for awhile will learn to love it.. and if one day they got to taste the 60% meat .. they would think it tasted shit and not real meat. (there are still labels who produce meat with a 90-100 percent meat in it still) (you all know what labels i mean)


Then there was the lowest % one with only 60% meat. It was called "the childrens favourite". Seems like we have gotten the kids used to eating this kind of food. Soon the "meat" we eat these days will have such a little amount of meat (so it appeals to everyone & get more profit) in it you can soon not call it real meat anymore.. soon the taste of meat is faded and all we taste is fucking potato...
