Welcome to the world of psycho acoustics! Your ears are telling yes, and your mind's telling you; nahh. What could help is whenever you're done having your break, return to your studio, turn of your computer screen(s) and take another listen or two. In that case you won't be able to see what's going on or if it's offbeat or onbeat. So infact you'll have to relie on your ears. You might want to give it a try. It could help you!

Well that's a bloody annoying world haha. I'll definitely give it a try, but I'd have to quickly write down everything that is wrong because even after a break, it takes only like 3 plays before it starts to sound good again.

Well just to take the opposite point to what has been said, I would say you should definitely take a break but use this break to play pro stuff so your ears will directly tell you this is sugar while your stuff (if it's the case) tastes like winegar.

I rarely take breaks as it's said, but when I feel I'm not sure of my sound this is what I do.

I do kind of the opposite. I make something that my mind/ears like, I get super excited about it so for some reason I fucking walk around my apartment like a maniac cause I am super stoked about what I made. I come back to it after 10 minutes of speed walking around the house and its kind of shit lol.

So, there are basically three things that help:

-short breaks
-1-2 days break after finishing a track ("complete reset" for ears)
-comparing stuff with top artists
