How long does it take for you to make a track?

Post by Astroshade »

I'd love to hear from the pro's on this one :D

For me.... my record was 2 days for tracking (16 hrs total) I was really on a roll that day.
When it comes to mixing.... up to a month or even more, since I'm not so good at it yet.
And then i work for maybe 2-3 hrs every 2-3 days or so...

How do you guys do? :)

I'm not a pro but I'm gonna answer anyways. :+

Sometimes it takes a month or two, some projects just take forever (small improvements here and there), sometimes I just start projects and then I stop working on them, some projects only take days.

Or in other words, it's totally different eveytime. It depends on how motivated, experienced and inspired you are. It's also a thing if you use alot presets (whether it's your presets or not) or still have to create the leads/kicks or whatever before continuing with the project.

You will see how it is for you when you start producing on your own. ;)

First thx for the info :)
And my bro... :) I'm not new to the game ;)

In my early days, it took me one day and it was finito.
And yeah, I'm not kidding when I say I have 1000 .flp-files that are everything from 1% to 70% complete.

takes a few years.. it depends on how much sounds you have ready and it also depends on whether you have good inspiration

a track can be made in 1 night if you have all the sounds and you have all the ideas

Okay I retire......
All I wanted to hear was how your typical producing process looks like.

Typically 3-6months on a track, but working on multiple projects at the same time, can throw down the ideas in an hr or so but refining and developing takes a lot of time excluding writers block etc lol

Anything from 8 hours to 2 years, depending on the ideas & inspirations, that doesnt include time spent sounddesigning, when I'm not making tracks I just make presets, samples etc. for later use.

i was made "goodfellas" in january .and i made that track in two weeks..just because i was having so much inspiration...now for example i have so many tracks and projects which is not concluded yet..and after 6 months i have another track complete! is a try to do everytime everything better and make it sounds "clear" and "loud" as much possible..i think it depens from person to person.
