Frenchcore Structure?

Post by Dj Reaper »

Hi, I have got a nice frenchcore kick and want to make a song but unlike Hardstyle and Hardcore which have a nice Intro, break, climax outro structure I don´t get the frenchcore structure. It seems to be similar to schranz and crossbread (but I don´t listen to them a lot so I don´t know exactely) and I simply don´t get in those generes how one makes them sound complex and don´t get boring.
Up to now I always just started with some elements and each 4 or 8 bars I added or substracted an element, than in the middle I made a "break" wher no kick, just percussion is playing and maybe a vocal or a new sound enters and than again kick and further sounds until the end. But I think that sounds noobish, I want really to make a complex frenchcore song..

Funny, I just happened to start playing with frenchcore myself.

I think a big part of frenchcore seems to be sampling. Almost every single one of Dr.Peacock's tracks have a full song thrown in and sped up to 200bpm. Obviously he layers his own sounds over it as well, but his samples still cover most of the melodic elements of the tracks. Then as the song progresses he will modulate the song he sampled after the loop has played through a few times. Play it with a low pass on it for 4 bars, distort it for 4 bars, ect. All while still having the kick pattern play over it.

Obviously not every frenchcore artist is like Dr.Peacock, but his style seems to work well.

Here's my very brief attempt at doing something similar.

Obviously not that serious, but it worked.

Yes I like Peacocks style a lot. But I´m not such a samplemodulation-freak, will have to get used to that working style :/

Songs that I like by 3 different artists:

But I am mostly after a more modern sounding production like this:
