Virus TI owners - making a screech

Post by jontah »

Hey,

I'm trying to make a fat screech inside of Virus TI using some FM, ring modulation, detuned hypersaws and a square.

In the matrix I'm using Envelope 3 to modulate the pitch of OSC 1, OSC 2 and OSC 3 (which is set to saw by the way, it's also abit detuned).

Regardless..

I don't get that screech sound no matter how much I tweak the envelope settings of envelope 3 (which I've set as the pitch evelope in this case).

Any tips/tricks from you hardstyle producers?

Virus is the ONLY synth I'm having trouble making screeches in... it's EZ-mode in Massive, sylenth1 and other softsynths.. and I can't see any difference in what parameters are modulating what inside of the VIRUS, so this is pretty strange.

But I really want to you my VIRUS TI for this lol.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you.

I can also say that it sounds more or less like a hoover rather than a screech when I do it inside of VIRUS..

Making a screech in the virus can be simple but also really hard,

Try to detune with 2 Hyper saw's, one hyper saw on osc1 and another one on osc2 both with maximum voices, unison on 4, no detune on it just the pan spread. Detune 100 on osc 1, Detune 96 on osc 2. A little bit of ring modulation.

This is all i am gonna tell you, here are the last 2 hints.

1. Distortion (Not telling the settings)
2. Play with the pitchbend (automated)

Those who want to go bad ass, put some pitch settings in the matrix.
Goodluck :)

(P.S this is for a normal but good detuned screech)

How i made it sound:

Because it depends, it all fucking depends on what the fucking kind of sound you want to achieve. Sorry for being rude like this but if you really own a Virus TI then why not go and have fun with it and figure out how to make these kind of sounds yourself? :dunno: And then again if you wanted that exact same screech he's using in that short snippet think that why would anyone want to give out their own sounds which they're gonna use in their future projects theirself?
