Melody tips?

So I got some "decent" melodies done before. But now i'm really stuck. I've been taking a small break from hardstyle producing but that did not help at all. So I want to hear if you guy have some tips for making a melody

I know there is no formula on how to magically make a super melody but just some major tips if u have any.

Usually when I get stuck I start following a pattern. First i lay down some chords. After I have a decent chord progression that covers 16 beats i start chopping the notes to create a basic groove or "rhythm". Now it's time to polish and create slight changes to the tone or groove in some points and voilá. I haz a melody

A little addition: after I have the melody done I start adding more synth layers to get the right timbre. (this is all done after i have a kick to make sure they work together) I also put down some basic reverb and EQing. When I start mixing i replace the reverb and EQ to make it just right.

when i want to make a new melody i use a vocal and write melody ontop of it.
