Confused on how to make melodies

Post by Xenophase »

So lately i been studying on how to make melodies. I've read tutorials on how to make them by using chord progression but they confused me heaps, could someone explain that better ? Also can you use Major scale in your melodies or is it just Minor scale only ?

I can't explain how to make melodies to you. But dude, with the major and minor stuff, have you not learnt by now that there are no rules to producing? Honestly, just make whatever the fuck you want as long as it sounds good, why does it matter what scale it is in?

u can make a melody how u want, mostly used in hardstyle are :
Euphoric Melodys (Minor>Major>Major>Major/ Minor>Major>Major>Minor
(tutorials-f22/tim-s-guide-to-sucksess-t2929.html)
Dark Raw Melodys > Mostly Minor.
Emotional Melodys : Mostly With Harmonic Minor and Major if im right.
Triplet Style Melodys: 3 Notes at 1 Beat at 150bpm. do what u want their , just make sure it fits with the harmony :+
and this.

What can Help : close ur eyes and Relax and think about a melody.
if u dont know where to start just make some Chords and make a full melody out of the chords than.

Like Frontliner would say now : Its a Creative Process :+

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

This might sound very stupid, but does one make the baseline first or the melody itself. Or even better: can someone tell me (or link me) to some theory about this?
Sorry for the somewhat stupid questions, but im still learning and still have a long way to go.

I start with a Chord Progression then move on from there. The bassline follows the Chords

Sorry this is completely off topic but I just noticed you're also from Tasmania.
I'm struggling to comprehend this.
