Mix problem.

Post by doc »

It said no kick topics, so this isn't one :P

I'm having some trouble with my mix in terms of how much hz i should cut from my synths to give space for my kick, usually id cut at around 100 but i went all the way to 200 just to see how it fit in together. but now i think it sounds too weak and like plastic xD. anyone have any tips?

I think the cut is pretty great like that. You even could cut a little less.
But please, add reverb to your synth, it will looks less plastic :D

A little more delay and reverb, and it will sound very nice :)

That's a nice synth you got there. Sounds relly good imo. As Xenon96 and rigz said before, just add more reverb and delay.

You have to have a good base first (Good kick & leads)... then the effects will work and make it even better sounding (EQ's, compressors, reverb etc).

You have a nice idea there for a good track imo :)

If it was my track... I'd add reverb to the boom & percussion, and to the lead(s).
For the snares building up, change your quantize to triplet/off-beat. 3/4. Not 4/4 like it is now. (If you don't understand, look at the base notes of your melody, and look how they line up... they're probably just right of the centre marking... ie triplet/off-beat) :)
Also the kick sounds to me as if it's in the wrong note/key.
