A good track for a newbie to recreate.

Post by Neutronic »

Hey guys! :)

Was wondering if anyone might have suggestion as to a good track to recreate. I think it will give me a lot of needed exercise in sound design but I'm kinda noobish :P

Would love to hear some suggestions because I always seem to choose tracks that are way too advanced for my level. I truly need something basic-intermediate. If anyone has any other tips on how to improve on allround sound design feel free to add!

Thanks! :D

You should not re-create but create your own mate

Hm... But I'm sort of a perfectionist so everytime I get an idea (happens quite often actually) I feel like my technical skills are destroying it and I give up within 5 minutes :/

I was just thinking that I should improve sound design before thinking about composition?

Make the song, tweak it, get feedback on it, continue to tweak it till you satisfied, its a long process but every production is :)

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

...
per·fec·tion·ism (pr-fksh-nzm)
n.
1. A propensity for being displeased with anything that is not perfect or does not meet extremely high standards.

Look it up, mr Ravestyler... Does not mean that I don't give up, that willpower and thats what I'm lacking.

Okay Apothecary! :) I will definitely try but its just kind of hard for me to post something that I'm not in the slightest satisfied with, at least sound design wise. :)

Like what was said above, just make the track, do now - think later

I really don't know myself the best way to approach making a track, but what I do myself is add a fruity notebook on the master channel and i write down my ideas sometimes I also write some ideas down with a pen and paper, from then on I put my ideas into action but take it really slowly, working on just 1 or two sounds in that day, and leaving at that, it takes time, you don't want to rush things because then you'll just get bored of it and feel like it's rubbish

I don't know if my method is the best way, i'm thinking many people produce spontaneously on the spot going bar by bar with the track

what I would reccomend before you start making a track is that you know how to use your tools and that you have a decent collection of sounds to work with for fast ideas

Thanks alot Aliner! I will definitely keep that in mind and it does seem like a nice approach. I really don't want to ruin the joy of expressing myself by getting frustrated :P
