On the 3rd of March 2012, two Dutch organisations will team up to bring you one of the best hardstyle club nights known to the hardstyle scene. Lose Your Mind and The Magic Show are both going to invade Kdanz (Schagen, NL) and present a huge edition of “Penoze: Kings of the Underground”.

For quite some time, Penoze has been moving its way up the list of hard dance party concepts within The Netherlands. The great atmosphere generated by an energetic crowd takes things to another level. The most unique thing about Penoze is the way each performing act plays back to back with the artist before and after them. This results in unpredictable and exciting sets. Lose Your Mind stands for quality and that message is certainly represented through their unbelievably good line-ups. The Magic Show have also been hard at work, which you can see by the number of listeners, partygoers, record sales, bookings and general buzz surrounding the organisation. People tune into their show to hear the best sets from some of the harder styles most accomplished and aspiring artists and are never left disappointed. All this combined makes The Magic Show the perfect hosts for an area at “Penoze: Kings of the Underground”.

Due to the level of praise that Penoze has received in its home country combined with the exposure from The Magic Show, this event is now attracting international attention. Hardstyle lovers from outside The Netherlands have noticed all the positive attributes previously mentioned and quickly made travel arrangements to experience Penoze for themselves. When speaking to a couple of fans from Scotland, it was quite clear how excited they were for their upcoming trip.

“When it comes to parties such a distance away, the line-up has to stand out as one of the best. When I seen which artists are set to bring down the walls of Kdanz, there was no other choice but to visit Penoze!” said Paul Russell (DJ and partygoer) when asked about his main reason for making the trip. “There has been talks of visiting this concept for quite some time.” Added his friend, Gary Haugh. “Over the past few years, my friends and I have visited a number of the biggest parties Europe has to offer, but we are beginning to realise that small and intimate club concepts make for some of the most memorable nights. Don’t get me wrong, and I’m sure my friends would agree, festivals/indoor events with 15,000+ ticket sales and huge locations are fantastic, but these smaller nights have such a unique atmosphere.” he continued.

As it turns out, Paul, Gary, their friends and The Magic Show will have a pretty busy weekend at the beginning of March: “It should be a pretty insane weekend. The night before Penoze I will be playing at Infexious meets The Magic Show in Scotland.” Explained Paul. “So the following morning we will all be catching our flight to Amsterdam to continue the party. Provided everyone survives the Friday night of course.” He added while laughing. I was curious to hear what else they found interesting about Penoze and Gary was quick to mention “The way the artists switch over!” while Paul nodded in agreement. “You can spend any number of hours preparing intros for DJs but the bottom line is that you have to keep everyone constantly entertained. Lose Your Mind have not only solved that problem, but turned it around and made it into one of the most exciting parts of the evening. Having back to back sets on the line up is always great, but having back to back sets every single hour is nothing short of brilliant.”

While discussing how these performances may turn out, Gary expressed his positivity about the line-up in detail: “As a fan of the more raw and darker hardstyle, the line-up really reflects my tastes. I like variety as much as anyone else, but when you have performances such as Gunz For Hire, Tartaros, Frequencerz & The Geminizers then you can’t go wrong.” Paul responded with similar tastes and also told of how he enjoys listening to aspiring DJs perform. “When you go to see DJs like The Geminizers or Mind.Illusion, you always get to hear something different with their unique form of mixing. These performances never fail to disappoint because you just know they are giving it 100% every time!”

Being a very popular podcast, The Magic Show has always been a utopia for aspiring talent supporting the most well known hardstyle artists. “You’re always guaranteed to have a new set to listen to on repeat every week!” exclaimed Paul as he scrolled through the endless list of The Magic Show podcasts on his iPhone. “It’s never the same generic sets either. Each week is like a mini event because they have such great line-ups. The Magic Show residents are more than enough to get you hyped up for the show but the guest performances always take it to the next level.”

“I also like the way they have expanded.” Gary responded. “I was really happy when they announced the record label and booking agency. It’s an important move for them as an organisation and works out pretty well for us fans. Look at how successful the first releases from Tartaros & Juized were, and how they have both been propelled into a lot more bookings since.”

As I concluded the conversation with Paul and Gary, I couldn’t help but agree. Things have moved very fast for The Magic Show since their big announcement in October. In 2011 they proved the capability of their organisation by teaming up with Q-dance and Bass Events to host an area at the biggest hard dance festival in Belgium, The Qontinent. And lets not forget The Magic Show stage at the sold-out weekend long WiSH Outdoor festival. Just by looking at videos, listening to the sets or talking to some of the visitors you can tell that they always pull out all the stops! It’s great to see that so early in 2012, there are already three international events announced (Infexious, Penoze & Quarantine) with more to come in the near future.
