Probably the best Defqon closing to date. So damn beautiful. I mean, look at the fireworks during Rise Again. It actually looks like the stage is flapping it's wings. Absolutely stunning work. Epic.

Fireworks wise no doubts.. Music wise, compare this to darkest hour and live the moment... defqon1 endshows have been getting worse year after year, with this year being the worst in history with only 2 good songs(transform and rise again)

unpopular opinion

It could be time to ditch end shows and power hour

I always loved the idea of the biggest DJ of the moment closing Saturday on red and they control the way it ends (with Q as well)

Maybe some concepts reach their limit and it's time to strip it back

agreed, power hour for sure!! it became too dull and boring. they need a new concept
The DJ spins a galaxy of black vinyl, for the gods that came to dance!

While I agree that the Saturday endshow was not the best, I really think that the Closing was superb. Rise Again and that version of This Is Who We Are were just perfect imo. This Is Who We Are is an absolute classic, the message is great and fits into the current spirit of time. The Gospel Remix makes it even more emotional. I loved it (L)

Yeah but as always - taste... :)

Maybe a unpopular subject: what do we know about Heady on sunday? Heard he was extremely wasted (on drugs) and had to be carried away from the festival grounds... Has anyone seen or heard about this as well?

Watch the Legends set (it's online somewhere if you know where to search) looks like some decent xtc lmao. Didn't hear anything about him being carried away, probably got a slap on the wrist from Q because it was overly visible on stage and apparently during some transitions. But it's not worth much drama really..

Many artists do it while playing, back in the days they literally snorted lines from the DJ booth. But it seems like he went a little over the top this time, it affected his performance so that's kinda unprofessional, especially during a Legends set ngl.

I dont understand this fucking thing at all. At a festival in Bucharest two young men died because of drugs, why you need drugs? 0 tolerance and the artists are fucking wasted

Ok I've got to admit it looks a looooot better with post-production effects and all those aerial views.
Still : Sunday > Saturday but very strong productions on both days (but I still think the level is declining)

Jesus guys... After covid and all that shit, be happy they are still alive. They are doing their best. As a tech guy, I can tell that covid hit really hard in this industry, all over the world. And Im sure for them it was same comeback party to organize Defqon as for you to party on it. The level of production is still insane.

P.S. Defqon 2013 Closing Ritual is the best they've done, light programming wise and show overall, but thats my nerd vision :+
i see you with my x-ray
