haha kinda agree tbh, or laws on immigration

Personally I'm in favor of slowly returning back to normal and live with the virus, not sure it's really worth it anymore to destroy people's mental health further more at this point

Depending on whose mental health ;)

Simply doesn't work without wrecking the healthcare system. It's not like only covid-patients take places in intensive care. Will raise more moral questions:
You wanna decide who gets to live? 20-year-old with alcohol poisoning, 50-year-old with covid or some unlucky guy in a car accident. You really wanna punish the 50-year-old for catching a virus? :)

Just some statistic from the US, and I can assure you it'll be more critical in developing countries
Since mid-February 2020, nearly 1 in 5 healthcare workers, or 18 percent, have quit their jobs, according to poll results from Morning Consult, a global privately held data intelligence company.

The poll, conducted in September among 1,000 U.S. healthcare workers, also found that 12 percent of workers have been laid off or lost a job, while 19 percent of those who kept them have considered leaving their job and the healthcare industry during the pandemic. Twelve percent of those who kept their jobs have considered leaving their job for another healthcare role, according to the poll.
Corresponding to this (peer reviewed):
Results 80.87% of participants were female and 19.13% male; 82.38% were aged under 55 years; 39.13% were physicians and 50.17% were nurses or auxiliaries; 80.42% of the health workers have directly treated patients with Covid‐19 and 12.28% have themselves tested positive for Covid‐19. 38.58% of HCWs had clinical depression; over half (51.75%) had clinical anxiety; 60.4% had clinical stress; and 21.57% had clinical insomnia. Older professionals (>55 years) reported lower rates of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and stress. Having worked directly with Covid‐19 patients appears to be an explanatory variable of suffering greater anxiety, depression, stress and insomnia, and of having a worse HRQoL amongst our HCWs. The group of HCWs suffering the worst mental state were nursing home workers.

What mental health conditions are our health care workers facing in the new wave of coronavirus? Int J Clin Pract. 2021 Oct;75(10):e14607. doi: 10.1111/ijcp.14607. Epub 2021 Jul 14. PMID: 34231287; PMCID: PMC8420292.
There have been some studies on the mental health problematic as well, but I think it needs more depth with several groups of the (general) population like parents/children. (peer reviewed)
The results showed that the detection rate of anxiety symptoms in a total of 86,035 cases was 32.6% (95% CI: 29.1–363); the detection rate of depression symptoms in a total of 90,156 cases was 27.6% (95% CI: 24.0–31.6); the detection rate of insomnia symptoms in a total of 62,202 cases was 30.3% (95% CI: 24.6–36.6); and the detection rate of PTSD symptoms was 16.7% in a total of 17,169 cases (95% CI: 8.9–29.2). Furthermore, the moderator analysis showed that mental health problems (i.e., anxiety and depression) had the highest prevalence in COVID-19 patients

This particular sacrifice could prevent a fifth wave from happening, save a few of your favorite event organisers and allow you to party, yeehaw.
Also, from my experience, you'll be working much more efficiently with the 5G flowing through your body. The government is tracking my way from bed to the toilet with nanotechnology instead of my mobile phone now.
And it might even save a few thousand lives, but who cares about old and ill people anyway.

Now seriously, if you want this shit to end, there is no other way.
Sorry to kill your reality but the vaccinations are not really effective anymore. They've already lost some effectiveness after the delta variant and theres even a delta v2 variant already. You would have to boost vulnerables to get like 6 months of protection even so you do still spread the virus. Vaccinations should've been forced during summer months and imo you have to test yourself even while being vaccinated to break the wave.

The situation will be even more dramatic as the vulnarable people will lose more and more of their immunity with the months passing by. To keep the 6th/7th wave somehow away the next year you'll either need an even less effective 4th shot later or an improved vac.

Either way it seems the virus gets less deadly and more infective over time. So i do expect less deadly cases next year in general.
All those factors do lead to the recommendation of vaxing 50+ and vulnurable groups and let the virus flow around the other people to get a natural and more effective immune reaction while keeping infected people at home and the all around contacts moderate.

Right now school kids and partys do spread the virus the most. High numbers are do to school kids getting tested in school. Valnurables do get i'll due to vaxers doing everything they allowed to do which wasn't the case last year.
when you look closely at the datas, you can see things clearly, in my opinion :
(i'm looking, for example, at the french datas, by age range)

https://www.ouest-france.fr/sante/virus ... b94b895f88

in every age range (for exemple 20/39 yo - 40-59 yo - ...) there is 80-90% of people in hospital right now who are without vaccination. Only 10% are vaccinated people. So, if everyone was vaccinated, there will be way less pressure on the health system.
And what happen if there is less pressure on the health system ? Less dead, less restrictions, and all the stuff we don't like ..

Ok so now to get our corona pass renewed in France from the 15th of Jan onwards, we'll need a 3rd dose, or a PCR test of less than 24 hours

This would be fucking funny if it wasn't so sad

It's looking like the US will consider "fully vaccinated" as having a first dose and one booster. I may as well get it done since the writing is on the wall, but I'd rather wait until after Christmas to take care of it.
