@Jens nice, sounds pretty hard, the punch is different but it's not bad

this time the kick is only 2 layers Sylenth 1, vengeance punch sample, resampled, and with added sub drum

I decided to add some aftertouch distortion on 60hz (low mix), using misstortion. This is the same layer resampled with more distortion on the tail as well as more layers.

I really like the character of the kick, transition from punch to tail could maybe be a bit smoother feels a bit short atm, but that could also be the style you're going for. It could easily be fixed with volume automation maybe. Furthermore, solid kick.

@valadia thks, I was messing with a "transient shaper" on the main distorted kick layer so maybe I went a bit too far with it

this is my attempt to remake the 2007 NC kick

If you ask me, "Shockwaves" is one of the all time greatest Noisecontrollers tracks. Not only the track brings you on an adventure, even the sounds are story-telling.

@Soundphase:

I really see the connection to a more old school kick. I even listened to "Noisecontrollers - Shockwave" and it is definitely similar and has the same vibe to it.

Here is my newest kick. I added a bit more reverb to the kick in the second half. Which one do you like better and do you have some more tips? For example, are the highs to low in volume?

@Freakwave
I like this sound of this tail, and I personally prefer the first part without the added reverb.
Punch part sounds a little over-compressed, are you compressing it?
I also think the highs of the kick do need to shine more, I would suggest to use another distortion to bring out the highs and then equalize to keep all the low harmonics the same volume as without the dist.
