What defines Uptempo
Horrendous production quality, quantity over quality, absolutely zero originality, the weakest kicks since the cheesiest happy hardcore was around, made for children.
I want to add random generic screeches to your list ^^

Yet i don't mind Uptempo at all if it's done right on a good level of production quality (Audiofreqs Uptempo EP, Imperial tracks, most of Angernoizers stuff for example) But unfortunalety most of the uptempo stuff is still on an absolute horrendous amateur trash level (Monkey Bizness, ghostproduced Estasia crap anyone? :+ )

I'd say NSD, Chaotic Hostility, X-Pander make actual good Hardcore if we're talking Uptempo.

Also, I would put nowadays Detest and The Satan in that category, and they make great stuff imo

Most comments are rather positive to be fair. Guess the scene's divided into several groups (just guessing):
1.) The people who like Uptempo because it is an alternative to the more "polished and clean" (mostly Mainstream) Hardcore that emerged with the death of Millennium while offering a more simplistic and straight-forward sound than Industrial and Crossbreed.
2.) People looking for fast alternatives due to the decreasing amount of Speedcore (&similar) productions.
3.) GPF piep-kick casuals

Sorry, but 240+ bpm is definitely not speedcore, splittercore or extratone. Speedcore starts at 300 maybe, splittercore and extratone are 500 & 1000 + minimum. You could argue terror sits in the same bpm range, (around 200 - 300) which sometime contain elements from the genres you named.
I know, but with 'if you go faster' I more or less meant that 'after uptempo, the next step on the ladder is speedcore>splittercore>extratone :)
That's right I think most people think of 200-300 bpm as "Upper Tempo" (including Frenchcore, Terror, and Uptempo itself) and then everything 300 bpm and up as being Speedcore and it's subgenres. I guess some Millenium Hardcore/Gabber could also be in the Upper Tempo range but I'm not sure they really have a unique genre name to differentiate that....

This is my chronological guide to Uptempo itself and hopefully does a good job covering it although its not really my cup of tea. I'm sure just having something new that's different from the other genres above and below it is just nice to have even if it's annoying to the rest. If anyone's got recommendation on what I'm missing lemme know.

This. Not the biggest Uptempo fan overall, but there is something about artists like Chaotic Hostility, MBK or Cryogenic (or even GPF, tbh) that I can't help but love and can't find anywhere else :D

Agree, I really like some uptempo from time to time and while I used to dislike it, that's not the case anymore. Really into Chaotic Hostility, MBK, Cryogenic, Dimitri K, Irradiate etc lately.

If you have any more recommendation for newer stuff for my set let me know. https://rateyourmusic.com/list/TheScien ... -hardcore/ I'm sure it may need a second disc of newer artists and tunes with it being so popular. Any help is appreciated. :whoop:
