Circling back as was listening to Daniel Fraga today where he remarked, in the context of religion and desire in the digital age, "religions had the same social regulating function...they told people how to desire, that today technology has, namely the news, the social networks, the dominating regime of truth, the dominating discourse of everyday life, the baseline reality that is shared among everyone"

If we can make the monarchy synonymous here, think it's an interesting and humorous point, considering probably the most important monarchy in the world was on the backfoot there for a few seconds, on the back of some gossip, importantly given a platform by oprah.

I think if people gave it a second thought, it could change their lives. But if we are only reacting to endless bullshit gossip the media tells us we should find important then long live the queen

Watching the most insane piece of modern American history.

A man found guilty of murder when we don't even know how the person he is suspected of killing died. the precedent that sets up, wow.

with this sort of shit, you definitely won't be able to unite the US in my lifetime haha

Agreed. Great to see that burning, looting and murdering gets another man locked up for the rest of his life, and for what? Trying to detain a low-life scumbag criminal, who has a high flight-risk? Geez

gosh lol, didn't realize it was so controversial. in my country when you get 10 people around a table, you get 10 different opinions. and everybody respects each other. the concept of swiss neutrality is multi-faceted but that is one component to it. try and have some respect lol

10 people and 10 opinions - oh yes, very much. When it comes to music, food or books. Not fucking racism.

I will never understand this "tactic": say something controversial and when you're called out, just go behind the "I just have a different opinion so respect" shield. Yeah sure, we know it's different but don't expect people to be emotionally neutral after bringing up this case which is a very good example of institutional racism, capitalism etc in a manner like that and frankly, it's hard for me to believe you didn't know that.
