[28/06/2019] Defqon.1 Weekend Festival - One Tribe

I loved every second of that Festival again. Just was knocked out for 3 hours on Sunday because of alcohol and heat. But afterwards everything was fine again. Best sets for me:

- Dbstf on Friday
- da tweekaz, rejecta & b front on Saturday
- Clockartz, sub zero project, gecko & Sefa on Sunday

Loved the stage design even though the U.V. was a little bit boring at daylight compared to the last 3 years.

They had some serious issues with the fireworks on Saturday tho. Started way desynchronized and they couldn't fix it. Still great ofc.

Won't enter a long summary of my festival but here are the few thoughts that come to my mind right now :
- DBSTF @ The Gathering is one of the best sets I've ever heard
- Not enough tap water stations
- I'm starting to hate camping because of the big dick contests of "my overly saturated and fast kicks are batter than yours" at 5 in the morning
- The endshow is better viewed from the back of the red in the middle
- Magenta was one of the best stages (2008-10 Hardstyle )
- I'm generally open but Yellow is one of the worst things I've ever heard
- 12€ for the Skywatch is my best investment of the weekend
- Was nice to see some old friends from around here (the key word in that being old - cuz yeah we're getting old - poke @ Tita and Chris One )
- The older I get the less sets I listen to and realize chilling is also pretty nice at festivals haha
- Nice to see more and more DJs doing fan meetings, sad I missed Demi Kanon's tho

Summary of the great DirtyTok's return to Defqon after 5 years.

Friday:
Overcrowded and moist everywhere in Blue tent, and people smoking everywhere in blue tent. Glad that indigo stage has a non-smoking signs everywhere inside the tent at least.

Was mostly in black tent on friday and saw Angerfist & Dr.Peacock awesome sets.

Was meeting a friend inside black tent on friday and it was his first defqon.1 and many first timers/noobs/newbies likes to bring a national flag with them and some people tried to light it with fire. Disrespectul.

Saturday:
Fucking too hot, so glad i used sunscreen twice during the day. Saw Heady with that new dragonborn track <3, Dana, Activator with Ruffian as MC!! Then the party really started at U.V during Frontliner and Da Tweekaz, always good mood.

Then off to RED to see B-Front and that was a big let down. Such a boring set but endshow was okey/almost good (expected more "anthem" like tracks).

Sunday:
One of the biggest highlights of the entire weekend was finally to see Ivan Carsten at Magenta. Such nostalgic tracks and the energy from the whole crowd was insane! Tat & Zat set was also epic. For sure Magenta stage the best music and best artists.

Then after some relaxing time in Toofargonia off to Gunz 4 Hire which was shit. They should rather play their qlimax set from 2011. But thats probably just me.

Then Sefa was good. Played many of the tracks i've been waiting for like Deus Vault, Leven is Lijden Release the kraken kick was featured in many edits, cool to hear. And the closing endshow just nice to see with the usual fireworks.

Overall defqon.1 has gotten bigger since 2014 (my last time), great organization although a little bit nazi like guards making people empty their water before going in on main festival area in 35° degrees. And then you have to refill at a overcrowded toilet.

Also noticed many germans trying to make food orders in german, whats the deal with that. Speak dutch or english u fuckhead.

And the price for one beer = 1 token and 1 token cost you 3€ which is insane for a 0,25 L beer. Thats the price here in Norway lol same goes for food. Probably spent around 250€ euros just for tokens.

And for the very very very last time Villain, shut the fuck up.

My rating for this years Defqon.1 = 7,5/10.

Obviously reviews are subjective but holy fuck... yours is literally the opposite of what I've been reading by everyone else.

10 Years of Thera was one of the greatest things I've ever experienced. The lunatic at Blue Stage Premium during the set? That was me.

The Classics Machine at Indigo was also amazing.

Disappointed by the weak system at Magenta, and the Sefa closing. I thought his set would involve some form of Hardstyle, seeing as it was the closing act at the Red Stage. Upset that I missed Delete in order to watch the crowd sing happy birthday.
