Thoughts on Fortnite?

Post by Stryder »

So recently Fortnite has been blowing up literally everywhere
Seems like PUBG and Minecraft had a baby xD
Have been playing for about a week now, it's pretty fun...well when my computer doesn't drop frames like a MF
I can kinda see the hype around it probably because it's free & can run on almost any computer
Besides that, it's not THAT good imo. Not bashing it in any way, I just think its a tad overhyped
What do you guys think? You having fun with the game?

Okay, let me be very clear here.
Fortnite changed the game industry and I'm happy because this feels like salvation.
A lot of games I bought in the year 2017 such as Call of Duty and Destiny 2 are easily forgotten.
Cause? They aren't good games. Of course, they spend millions on creating the game and both games look absolutely fantastic especially Destiny 2. But the games are boring and after one week it feels like you've seen and done it all.
In this particular case I HATE Destiny 2, I can't put it in any other context.
Story was flat and the ''rich cinematic scene's'' were boring to watch and the game was soooo boring to play.
And here's the best part, they created an casual mmorpg/fps :+ :+ :+ :+ :+
How is that possible? :+
I don't even want to begin about Call of Duty WWII how glitchy and monotonous that one is.

But fortnite is actually something interesting and new.
Every time I start a match with my friends I feel ecstatic.
Can't wait to outgun my opponents and slaughter team after team with my friends.
Of course the magic will wear out.
But at this moment is on fire and every week there is an new update with new guns or town's they've added.
Epic Games actually communicates with its community.
Now this is very rare since the big studios don't do this a lot or not at all.
They just create the game, and fix some small bugs with it.
But changing something? Nah, we made millions fam see you next year

With a lot of games now a days comes microtransactions that can alter the gameplay.
Putting too much loot behind a paywall is just dumb and takes away the fun.
With fortnite it's wether up to you if you want new outfits, dances etc for just 10 euro's.
Best thing, you get the V-Bucks back so you can purchase the pass again next season and again and again.
But most importantly, you can play the game for free.
And spending 10 euro's one time on a free game is so much different than spending 10 euro's every month after you've already paid a full 60 euro's.

Activision is the most cancerous game publisher ever since they want to make more and more money.
So... there you go :fist:

This x10000 !

Fortnite brings just soo much fun! The building system offers you so many options to fight..it's simply amazing! :D

+ Epic Games makes everything right that bluehole fucked up with PUBG...thats also one reason for the gigantic hype around Fortnite.

Activision (as well as any other publisher) exists for one thing, and one thing only - to make money. I'm not excusing their business practices (Hell, I've boycottet EA entirely because of their bullshit) but to call them the worst ever because they want to make money, is probably some of the dumbest shit I've read since people started seriously thinking the Earth is actually flat.

Sorry for the off-topic. I don't play Fortnite because I don't play multiplayer only games.

There's a difference tho between making money and outright being greedy...

Right now Fortnite seems to be getting things right. Haven't tried it out yet since i'm not really into battle royales, but it looks interesting enough to atleast give it a try.

Yet, Activision has a lot of influence on the studios since the studios are under contract by Activision.
You really think that a publisher such as Activision says like: ''You're free to create whatever you want!''
Of course, I can't blame a publisher for trying to make more money since the whole world revolves around money and everyone wants a coin to toss.
But since you have no clue about multiplayer or what so ever, I think it's better that you take back your comment.
Because I'm not the only one who thinks that Activision hasn't released a good game in a while now and yet the prices are ridiculous.
And now with the announcement of Black Ops 4, the milking continuous because the Black Ops series has been their best seller.
But Activision definitely has a big impact on the prices of games, dlc and microtransactions.

Of course not. Did you even read all of my first post?

Do you actually think I've never played a MP game in my life? Are you that thick?

Woohoo something we can agree on. Yes, prizes are ridiculous. Hell the pricing of old titles (look to BlOps 2 or GTAV on steam for examples) is what created the grey market and why many don't care about using said markets.

I've never disputed that. My point was that there's absolutely no way Acti-Blizz are "the most cancerous publisher in gaming history" when Konami and EA are shitting all over every one, and some still crying out for more liquid feces splurted into their mouthes. Hell, look at what Square Enix are doing to PC gamers in Japan, where they charge €30 extra for the japanese voicepack ONTOP of the full priced games.
