Punch is very loud compared to the tail, and the tail's character is a little weird (too ringy) and goes on too long. The punch does have "melt" into the tail nicely, though, even if it's a bit too loud. Keep distorting and chop up the tail/use filters to get more movement in the tail and improve its character.
Soepa:
Second kick sounds nice. Very pre-2012 Frontliner, which from the sounds of it is what you were going for. Solid sub. Could maybe use more highs, although it's hard to hear them underneath the synths.
Not too big of a fan of the style of the first kick, but it seems alright sound wise. Good punch, crunchy with good highs, not much to say really.
Neoking:
Your kick has an annoying high-end resonance, you should notch that out.
Your kick sounds pretty basic and oldschool. If you're going for a modern kick it needs a lot more work for a crunchier character. Funny that you made it out a fart sample though.
djspeed:
I don't think Bas would appreciate you calling his Feel So Good kick "your kick".
Netris:
The tok has the right characteristics, it's clearly audible in the punch and stands out from the tail which is what you want. The character needs to be more crunchy, however, and should fall away as the tail goes on. Without the character falling, the tail sounds too "long" and doesn't lend itself well to feeling punchy. Split the tail up into 3 parts (beginning, middle, end) and EQ the middle and end parts so that have less mid and highs. Crossfade between the parts smoothly and you get a more natural sounding fade in the tail. Be careful about phasing, though, so use linear phase EQs if possible. Phasing might give you a nice animated character though, so who knows! Try both.
I layered 3/4 dogshit kicks of mine and out of complete luck got this:
I don't normally like layering different kicks, but this time it worked out well.

Thanks! Yes, I strive for more older sounds (2008-2012) since I am not the biggest fan of the new sounds to express myself mildly (new kicks are nice though). I didn't do the mixing properly because I'm not the best at it currently but I am gonna work on that in the future. Thanks for the feedbackPhazon wrote: Soepa:

Geez, not even a single post in over a month. I guess everybody is too busy ripping and layering NC & others' these days.

or

Give a bit of a boost to the bass, as on the pic (yes I downloaded your clip please don't kill me)
The punch of course needs work (hint: the 20ms click shouldn't have bass in it)
Here's my newest creation, featuring new kick (duh):
Pretty good tail. One thing I'd suggest is this:Netris wrote:

Also good, however the punch sounds too much like Noisecontrollers', and the tail sounds kinda generic (not that it's bad of course, it's great).Phazon wrote:

Yeah, I learned a lot since that kick (thanks to Phazonenslaver101 wrote:The punch of course needs work (hint: the 20ms click shouldn't have bass in it

As for your feedback for that last kick, it was a lost cause so I abandon it

Quite good kick. I feel it could be a bit more crunchy thoughenslaver101 wrote:Here's my newest creation, featuring new kick (duh):
New kick day !
This one took me a while, I spent the whole afternoon yesterday to EQ it correctly. I feel it lacks a bit of crunch though.

It’s a really good kick! It has a good amount of crunch. I’d add some small amount of reverb to make it sound "bigger”, but that is your decision because it already sounds good as is.Netris wrote:
Nice and crunchy! Nothing bad with it.enslaver101 wrote: Here's my newest creation, featuring new kick (duh):
For being shit kicks, it turned into gold cause it already has that “high quality kick” sound.Phazon wrote:
What do you think of my kick? I’m satisfied with the result, but I’d like some other opinions on it.
Hey Whisky! Well I'm in no way an expert when it comes to kicks, but from what I can hear, this is not really a qlimax kick. It's more of a build-up kick. It lacks a good punch, the tok sounds too small (it actually sounds like a cut off snare right now) and the bassline is lacking some low frequencies. I think you can turn it into a good kick, if you layer a more agressive tock over it, cut the low freq from the current bassline and add a sub base under it. Also, compression is key from what I experimented so far, you need tons of compression on all the layered sounds to glue everything together. Overall not bad, but as I said, it feels like a build-up to a more powerfull kick.Whisky wrote:

I am currently under complete stress when I hear compression. I am trying to make my own signature kick in FL Studio but I add a lot of compression and layer a good ammount of sound but still can't get a clean sound. The waveforms are all crunched up but still my kicks sound very muddy, and I kinda need tips on how to solve this issue (layering more high frequencies sounds on the tail seems to diminish the bass part, so now I am stuck with an amateur tried-to-be-raw kick.
Here is a preview, i added a small basic buildup so it kinda makes it sound better. One thing i learned, pitching kicks in FL Studio is really reaaally reaaally hard.
@ whizky _: nice dist

@xelnadu tail is nice, the punch has potential.. but right now it is too noisy
@djspeed87 really great raw kick
haven't tried making a kick in a long time..(removed clip), trying to figure out ways to make "low end power", more distortion and resampling is the best method perhaps?

@ XelNadu: it sounds like the punch and the tail are seperate from each other. It doesn't sound like 1 kick, if you know what I mean...
@djspeed87: Very nice raw kick! On my studio monitors, it seems like it's missing some low end or is that zippyshare's fault
@ Soundphase: I guess if it's supposed to sound like a 2007 kick it's ok, but I would try to make it sound fuller. I miss some power in the kick.

@Buffelstoot I think the dynamics sound good, seems to have just the right amount of power, maybe the punch could have some more wideness though?
I added a layer on my kick to try to give it more dynamics and fullness
is there any problems in it?
