What headphones do you use?

Im a serious Hardcore addict, and I have been for years, and im interested on the headphones in which other lovers of the genre use to hear their music. I use a standard turtle beach headset and it is wonderful! How about you guys?

M-Audio Q40, a discontinued hidden gem (sound quality wise) for its asking price that handles electronic music perfect for its unusually good bass quality (tight & punchy, impactful) and otherwise pretty balanced sound (except for a bump in the bass region) at its asking price:



I returned a pair of $750 headphones as I didn't think they sounded equally good. It's probably maybe 5th year now on these and I've stopped looking for new ones for now, been through around 10-12 or so headphones. (headphone enthusiast)

for gaming/watching movies/etc: sennheiser 558 - pretty good headphones, really comfy even when wearing it for several hours, audio quality is sufficient altho a bit too much bass for me.

for producing: audio technica ath-m50 - i believe it is excellent for producing, quite flat and balanced sound. it is also comfy but after a while it gets hot and i get ear fatigue. the fact that i wear glasses doesn't help, unfortunately.

I listen mainly to EDM and Hardstyle in particular. I tried several different headphones like beyerdynamic DT 990/770. Audio Technica ath-m50. But I never was quite satisfied with the bass of these headphones. I was searching for open ones, since I don't like to feel uncomfortable and sweaty after long listening sessions. After reading a lot of reviews on several hifi forums I decided to buy the Philips Fidelio X2 and I love them since the day they arrived. They are very powerful and clear and sound almost like closed headphones. Even deep frequencies are represented in a well manner without pushing the highs and mids away. The highs and bass are slightly more dominant than the mids so they aren't suitable for production. But they are very fun to listen to and just enjoy the music in it's best form.

I'm using urBeats. I don't know if you're into in-ear headphones but I can really recommend them, especially if you've got an iPhone.

I got the Audeze LCD X, best in the business imo. It's the best piece of studio gear that I've bought in a long time and I can't imagine not having it when I work.

I'm kind of an audiophile apart from the fact that I work with sound and sit in the studio almost every day, so I'll give some unsollicited advice if I may

LCD-X is pretty high end. It goes up way higher, but the cost that you pay vs. what you get is definitely not worth it. But these cans are somewhat colored. Audeze has a dark tone to it and not a very wide stereo field, but I (and multiple other people such as Noisia) absolutely adore them. If you want a more flat response go for Sennheiser HD 800. Headhunterz and a couple of other producers use them. Elear by Focal is also recommendable.

But I can imagine that not everyone would be interested in some high end headphones, so just a couple of general recommendations I'd like to give:
If you want an entry level/medium level headphone for listening music or producing music then definitely check out the Sennheiser HD 650 (300 euros i think) a pair of mad dog heaphones (prices vary).
And if u were to be interested in In ear monitors on a budget I'd 100% recommend the Shure SE215 for 90 euros.
Oh and don't get gaming headsets, most of em are straight up garbage when it comes to sound quality. But that's another topic. Feel free to ask questions if you're interested in buying a gaming headset anytime soon

I've been using a pair of Sennheiser HD 215's as my main headphones. I have mines for the last 8 or 10 years and they're absolutely fantastic. Flexible, but very well built, astonishing sound quality (for me, the best sound quality I've ever heard in headphones - obviously never had the chance to properly test headphones with bigger price points).
The sound is reproduced as is. No extremely artificial bass (which was my main requirement...). High's are really clear. Vocals simply come alive in these...
They're a bit bulky, but not uncomfortable. If you live in hot weather, they may cause you some trouble on the height of summer.
All that being said, there are probably better alternatives at this price point nowadays
Funny story: I've bought them for 80€ brand new and just last summer I've seen them in a store going for 90€...
