how to get more Loudness and Stereo Image

Post by Outsider »

Hello Hard producers, i started producing some time ago and one of the things that has me worried is about to getting more loudness in the tracks. The tipical loudness of any professional hardstyle track...

I'm not sure if it is mainly achieved in the mastering, cause since according to producers like Heady and Code Black, most the loudness is getting in the mixdown. Anyway, i tried so hard to get more loudness in the mixdown (avoiding cliping and a bad mix) and compressing a bit in the mastering, only a BIT (because hard compression can destroy my track); but I still do not get the ideal Loudness.

Alike, I panning appropriately sounds of my song, expanded the stereo separation of someones and make mono others, but... I still do not get the stereo image like professional tracks :G

Here is the last song i've done:

Then, I will compare the wave spectrum and the stereo image with a pro-track, like Noiseshock - Beyond Reality:

So, this is basically my problem, I would appreciate immeasurably your advice and opinion, and sorry for my bad english... thanks _O_

I feel like there is not enough reverb on your sounds. Also in your climax, there is just this weak lead and nothing else. Your screech also sounds way too dry. Add more reverb, think of compressing it. Add more layers to your main lead and add chords to fill the spectrum and make it stronger! And don't forget to work on your EQ'ing :D

mids make everything sound louder since that's what the human ear is best at hearing.

"mastering" each channel then mixing them into stems or groups for instance "drums", "synths", "vox"....then "mastering" each of those groups will give you a louder, denser mix

also, be aware of where your hat or snares dynamic peak is in relation to your kick, as well as any synths in the mix

Thanks for the advice! I thought I was adding it too much reverb, but still needs more :omg: when you talk about compressing.. you mean the reverb or the track?

Layers are a key thing to making it sound huge and loud! I'm no master at it myself but already as i've experimented with making up layers i can hear a huge difference! And when making layers, don't have all of them playing on the same octave, swith it up, have a high layer, have a lower layer, this will make any sound a lot bigger and louder! And then once you're finished and have maybe idk 3-4 layers, play with the eq, compression and this should kind of glue the sounds more together if i've understood it right, please correct me if i'm wrong! And as it was already mentioned, reverb!

Pan 1 synth to the left and pan 1 sound to the right to create a wider stereo image.
You can also use some mid/side eqing

to add on to the mid/side topic of what dark identity said...for the synths, add a bit of mid or high to the sides to "widen" the sound...you can even cut or shelve a bit of the lows in the mid to open up space for the kick
