Getting started (HC/Raw

Post by jolleN »

Hey!

i have been producing from time to time for about 2 years. and its been many diffrent generes. but now i feel to settle in on just 2 genres wich would be harcore and raw  . although i know much about the music in general i would like to improve my producing with it.

So could any kind soul link me some good tutorials that you know of. from kick to melody and mastering.

PS. would not prefer these 5 min videos with no talking and a guy just show you how to make a very simple kick. but more in depth.
It doesnt have to be a videos, but a long text where they go in on producing is very fine aswell.

Thanks! _O_

For some basic kicks this one is good(and long :D). Not necessarily a raw kick(you cant compare that for example with a kick from radical redemption or warface), but if you know these basics it will also be easier to create raw kicks.

This one helped me for hc kicks

There are plenty of melody tutorials out there, but in the end you cant really learn from a tutorial how to make good melodies. I would rather search for lead tutorials if you dont know already how to create them.
Here a cool video about melodies, altough its not raw:

And a hc melody video that helped me:

There are also alot more on his channel, also about other producing stuff

About mastering: dont worry yet :p doing mastering good takes years of practice and also of course a good studio(and good ears :D).

For learning its also good to use samples. Frontliner put for example 2 of his kicks online for free, which you could download, analyze, modify or whatever. Same with melodies, there is for almost every song(raw to) a midi file available.
The Convicted(https://www.youtube.com/user/soundmixerzproject/videos) puts a lot of them online. you can also find a lot on http://www.nonstop2k.com/. Or just google :D

The legend himself, Promo, is actually putting on a clinic on his youtube channel with basic tutorials centered on Hardcore.
So far he has touched on 4 subjects: Kicks, Synths, Sidechaining, and Filter kicks, with more to come. (Everything is done, and shown, in Logic Pro X)
Videos 1-4 in the spoiler tag.

Maybe if you wrote some music you wouldn't need 6 kick drums!
