SeamlessR making a tutorial about making a Kick & philosophers about the genre in general

Post by F-Rank »

I was really unsure where to put it, but his video covers way more than just his tutorial on making, what he believes is what defines a Hardstyle kick.

His insight is really interesting to listen to and his way of using the "standard" VST's is something I didn't know of.

I think the Fruity Waveshaper is one of the most underestimated plugins when it comes to making kicks and reverse basses. With an EQ and the bipolar mode of the waveshaper, you can easily replace Clip Distortion or Venm. With this mode you can add asymetrical distortion. The normal, unipolar mode of the waveshaper is very helpfull as well, if you just want to saturate or desaturate your kick/bass.

I like how Seamless mentioned how he underestimated a hardstyle kick :D "I was full of myself" well ,duh , anybody who loves hardstyle could heard how pathetic that first kick was , and it still sounds amateur (hardstyle part 6) but at least he said its not done , it needs some fixing :D
It's like every hardstyle producer in the beginning :D
Although i agree it's not the most complicated sounddesign there is , but i'm sure it's one of them :)

^ yeah, it doesn't sound like a professional kick but come on, it's pretty good even though this guy is not a hardstyle producer.

The thing with him is that he can make great EDM , dubstep , neurohop etc , but this hardstyle track sounds like a 14 y.o.'s trying to copy frontliner :D ofc that's not entirely true , but he's soo full of himself :D

And also , if he would admit that's a shitty kick , he could spend some time over it and make it into a real hs kick , because it's not that far from being a nice kickdrum :)
And i also wanted to say that i like the dude and his other videos i just really despise if a producer so experienced underestimates hardstyle...
have a nice day :)

How can you despise him, if he admits underestamating and then tries to learn from it? That's the workflow in a lot of things in general. Tbh, I think he is quite humble in those videoes when he analyses different tracks and tries to understand how Hardstyle is.

well he was saying that with his patcher setup: "it is possible to remake any kick", this is indeed being too full of himself and just playing a wildcard. It is so obviously not true because the punch will never have substance with that setup and he still needs to resample/layer it all more (and more individually as headhunterz did in his video). He was saying that headhunterz way is the old way and his way of creating a kick is the new way to do it, but that's just misleading :paranoid:
