Why do producers use so many patterns?

Post by GamerZoneUSA »

At the most I use like 3 or 4 at once vet when producers post pictures I see like 10 being used at once. What is going on that so many need to be used?

Wow, kind of good question, i breakd my mind while i figured it out my self.
I see all sort of adventages of making my track by many patterns and they are:
- It is more orgenized
- Criativity/ Well, in FL (and i think in all programs a like) there an option to cut and lenght the pattern it self on the timebar. So for an example you have a mellody going on, and you want to double the last 2 bars of the pattern or make an a uplifter if it. So baicly you can make it with one patter but with mant patterns you can just cut the last 2 bars and copy paste it.
- Its really helps me with my kick production. While i making the kick i am just making one pattern or two with diferent kind of lenght of the kick and then i just cut off the right one in the timebar and put it in the right place.
- Also you can crat new stuff from your build up pattern. As i said, if you have a melody you can just cut the right bars from the pattern on youre timebar and creat a new melody of it. Its kind of cool technic that i really like. :D
Basicly, its what more comfor to you, but in my opinion the every sound in his own pattern thing is giving you a lot more options to play with your patterns.
Well, i hope i helped you to understand it =D

When I start adding percussion, sweeps, automation clips, cymbals and stuff... The number of channels starts increasing fast.
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

We generally don't use many patterns, prettymuch bounce everything to audio ASAP!

i have a loads of them , you cant add detail to a track with only 3-4 pattern. Usually my lead with melody is 4 layered , and i'got a bass underneath it , sweeper / explosion , clap , maybe some dubstep bass cuts etc.. usually my breaks are the most complex parts :)

Layering and changes to add "texture" or "flow" to the track.

Video from Omegatypez:
This looks rediculous. I'm always wondering what's on all of these layers.
