Re: Logic on a PC is very possible
Did either of you guys follow a guide for using OSX with VMWare or Virtualbox? After some searching around the net it seems like people have mixed results with things such as video drivers once the install is complete (using VMware or VB). Did you guys have any issues and do you have a link to the process you followed?
I've heard someone not having sound on it >.<

What you basiclly do is: You install another operating system over you (probably) Windows.
That's it, the VMWare/VirtualBox emulates another computer inside of your computer that's going to be running
your new OS. Afaik everything should just work fine. But your best guess is to do it yourself.
http://www.vmware.com/nl - VMWare
https://www.virtualbox.org/ - Oracle VirtualBox
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion - Apple OS X Lion (10.7)
Totally it will cost you only $20, which is a good buy imo.
Better than buying a $1500 Mac >.<

You can also just buy a second hand mac, which isn't too bad. Just make sure you know where you buy it from. (Like a store that sells refurbished ones with 6 months+ warranty).
I bought a second hand macbook pro and it is working great. No issues or scratches. Plus you have the fun of both worlds without the bugs and latency (bootcamp Windows) and with a SSD it's really fast.

I'm always a bit scared to buy second hand electronic though. You never know what happened to them.

Same "scary" thing goes for the new (2014 edition) ones. Where most of the parts are welded together. When you lose the warranty, and the laptops breaks, you are basicly stuck with a broken laptop.Valadia wrote:I'm always a bit scared to buy second hand electronic though. I have one from 2012, which you can upgrade. It is working great, and if something breaks I just replace it.
Just make sure where you buy it from by looking at reviews etc, and with a good warranty you should be set.
However, buying second hand always has a risk. But as long you check as much as you can, then you can minimize the chance of running into problems later.
Appreciate the replies and help guys.
Valadia: Are you able to successfully use Logic with the virtual machine setup? I've seen a couple posts on the boards that say you cant install Logic on a virtual machine. They said it has something to do with 3D requirements...which doesnt make sense to me since Logic is an audio program....

I tried once, but I didn't have as much computer knowledge as now. I've been able to install Linux Mint, but not OS X. I'll go ahead, and try it now.silver wrote: Valadia: Are you able to successfully use Logic with the virtual machine setup?
