So... i was wondering which are the most important thing to get for your studio except from monitor speakers and audio interface. Maybe a MIDI controller? A microphone for vocals? Tell me what do you think!

Critical thinking, monitors, audio interface and a decent computer will get your far. Using the search function is also highly recommended as this has been asked multiple times.

Well, you're beyond wrong. You can also properly treat a room and then have crappy speakers giving out a coloured sound in a well-treated space. Some people prefer their cheap headphones or their crappy little room. It's never stopped people making quality tracks, and never will. They are simply used to whatever space/equipment they use and know exactly how other tracks sound through them. While I'd strongly encourage a treated room, it's by no means necessary. Having an understanding of how tracks sound in your particular set-up is significantly more important.audiofreq wrote:None of the above.

OP asked what was most important to get for a studio - I firmly believe acoustics are. Being able to properly trust what you hear without any hint of doubt is important.
I'm not saying people can't be creative in a less than optimum environment, but if you want to get good quality sounding music without stress, acoustics first.
I didn't understand this for a long time until I finally moved studios to a proper space moved a few months ago.
What I've learnt is that quality gear/plugins simply makes it easier to get a good result quicker without as much effort. Not saying its impossible without.
OP - make your life easier, invest in quality and you'll see the return.
For someone living at their parents or in a rental apartment, setting up acoustic treatment might not be possible. It is also a very expensive thing to do if done professionally, hence to why I don't recommend it to beginners.

You missed my point - I wasn't talking about studio monitors. A bad room with nice monitors will always beat a nicely treated room with $20 speakers. While very helpful, proper acoustics are by no means the most important part of a studio. Like I already said, knowing how stuff sounds in your particular listening environment (whatever acoustics/equipment you may have) is far more important than having room treatment. If it was between getting acoustic treatment and buying a proper pair of monitors, the monitors would be the better choice. For the reasons SCH suggested and more, a bedroom producer would get significantly more use out of a nice pair of monitors than a room with great treatment.audiofreq wrote:All monitors are inherently coloured man.
