If you'd bothered to search on Google you would've found your answer in less than a minute. The phase knob does exactly what it suggests - it gives you control over the starting phase of the waveform. It has very minimal use in detuned leads with many voices because each voice starts on a separate phase anyway. You'll hear what it does more clearly when you have retrigger turned on.
I know that I've could have Google what it does. But that wouldn't make it really obvious, at least for me, when to use it. But thanks for clarifying that it is somewhat useless on detuned leads.ljk32 wrote:If you'd bothered to search on Google you would've found your answer in less than a minute. I guess, if I understand correctly, it is better used on a single oscillator.
the best 'plugin' to use is your brain!ljk32 wrote:Like with every aspect of production, rather than somebody telling you when something is appropriate to use, just try it out yourself. If it sounds good, use it - if not, don't.

I tried creating a very euphoric squarish synth with some FX's over.
This is the last time I tried creating some kind of synth and this build up was created.
Any suggestions on what I could layer into the square or just maybe add more filler synths?

In my opinion this doesn't sound too bad, if you want to achieve a fuller sound, try layering some instruments (maybe a pad playing only the cords or a second melodie on top of it).Dj Reaper wrote:Since some time already I want to do an attempt at remaking an old track of mine which my friends consider my best track but I am always facing problems with the lead. I don´t know if it is because of the melody or if it is because I find difficulties making a lead that sounds good playing chords and single-note-melodies..I just find something sounds wrong/empty but I don´t know what, can someone hear some evidence and point me in the right direction?
Btw I haven´t mixed it down, just put some reverb delay and lowcut on the lead..
