Best Quality Eq vst for mixing and automation?
Recently I've been getting more into depth with mixing as much as sound design because they work together. I started checking out other Eq's since i only use the fruity parametric EQ2 and wanted to see if there is anything better for mixing and automation. I noticed there is a ringing type sound with parametric EQ2 on peaks about 5 db and up. Also automation on it isn't that great and comes with muddy ringing. I tried out fabfilterproQ trial on a 5db peak around the same band width and it has great clear quality, but after 30 days the trial is done and i'm broke. I looked around and found blue cats triple EQ which is free and the ringing on 5db is different from parametric EQ,but it's still there. I'm not really new to useing an EQ,but i never worked with other Eq's to know which one is best for my needs.FabfilterProQ's quality is noticeably really good ,but pricey and i don't want to pirate. Bluecat and fruity parametric Eq2 i really can't tell which one is better since the sound is only different. What specs or options should i look for in an EQ to get clearer mixing and automations?
try MeldaProduction
Are you sure the ringing isn't just because you have a Hi Q value and you are creating a peak that is resonating?bloodlord1989 wrote:Recently I've been getting more into depth with mixing as much as sound design because they work together. Save the money and get the fabfilter pro q. Or try DMG Equilibrum, its is a fantastic eq. I use both regularly along with the Neve Portico 5033 from Steinberg which is also an awesome eq.
I would say that you are right. I think your values are too high and that you should take it easy. But you mentioned FabFilter, and I must say that FabFilter does its job, but isn't a really high-quality EQ. You should really check out the EQ from Sonalksis. The EQ costs €80,-, so it's a bit less money than the Pro-Q from fabilter. You can download the trial for 14 days for free btw, so it's definitely a plugin you should check out. https://www.sonalksis.com/sv517.htm?buy=527Echidna wrote:Are you sure the ringing isn't just because you have a Hi Q value and you are creating a peak that is resonating?bloodlord1989 wrote:Recently I've been getting more into depth with mixing as much as sound design because they work together. At 5db peaks it's not very loud, but it is still resonating. The reason why i tested them at a resonating 5db is i want to automate two peaks to get a vowel type filter effect and so far fabfilterProQ gave me the cleanest sound. Also if it sounds clean on a resonating peak it should be good with mixing. I normally would use harmor for vowel effects, but it doesn't have traditional FM like sytrus since it's a ADD/Sub synth. I'll checkout the vsts and see what the specs are.Echidna wrote:Are you sure the ringing isn't just because you have a Hi Q value and you are creating a peak that is resonating?bloodlord1989 wrote:Recently I've been getting more into depth with mixing as much as sound design because they work together. Took a look at the specs on sanalksis. Sounds like it has some nice features with analog. I never really worked with analog before and don't know much about it. I'll check it out to see if it's clean on 5 db peaks. Also the reason for those type of peaks is for automation to get custom vowel effects.Cardioid wrote:I would say that you are right. I found a good free EQ called M equalizer that only comes in a bundle of effect plugins. They are all free and almost fully functional. The options that are locked are just saving some color customization presets and some advanced modulations in some plugins you really don't need. The EQ is alot better then fruity parametric EQ2 and is alot like Fabfilter ProQ with good quality in automation peaks if you set the automation quality up. It even has the sound wave analyzer, a saturation knob for some reason, a limiter and every plug in it comes with you can set the way it looks from skins to color or color preset( The only presets that saves on each plug in). It's the same one frontliner used in his kick tutorial. There's a lot of stuff i haven't found out yet about it and it's extremely useful with a lot of options i never had before and needed. This is the link if anyone wants to download the Freeefect bundle http://www.meldaproduction.com/plugins/ ... ectsBundle .
