When will commercial progressive house die out?
Re: When will commercial progressive house die out?
There are just as many "fake fans" at hardstyle events mate, As Vero said not everyone gives a fuck about who produced what or the history of each track. It is just party music, The majority just want to party and have fun with their friends. Acting like you are superior because you know Avicii's real name just makes you look like a douche.

Yeah look at my superiority. Look how superior I am, as I said in all my posts I'm sooo superior.Vicious wrote:There are just as many "fake fans" at hardstyle events mate, As Vero said not everyone gives a fuck about who produced what or the history of each track. I actually saw the "Tim Berg" thing in a meme, thought it was funny and a bit proved my point.
And about the majority wanting to have fun, true.
Proudly producing pow-pow-powerful Hardstyle since 2007

Let´s get one thing clear: Tim Berg is as much of an alias as Avicii or Tom Hangs is. The man's name is Tim Bergling....Astroshade wrote:I actually saw the "Tim Berg" thing in a meme

That's progressive House though. Being the massive fan that I am, I'd say it's a completely different genre from Bigroom HouseDigital Audio Tape wrote:and I have always been wondering, how come something as awesome as this:
turned into whatever you're hating on in this thread. talking about a genre going downhill...

Astroshade, I think you're completely wrong on your chain of causality. The (mainstream, mind you) radio does not decide what we listen to at all. We decide what we hear on the radio station. They play the music that fits the currently popular genre. It will attract new people to these genres, sure, but it's not the way it's decided upon.
Also, everyone on this forum shares a passion for music and goes out of their ways to listen to music. Not everyone, or dare I say the large majority, does not care as much for music as we do. They just want some tunes to listen to, but don't care for genres. Those people might care more about cars or comics. Who are you to tell them that the music they listen to is 'dumb' while you drive a Golf or just like reading the Donald Duck? They hear a couple Avicii tracks on the radio and decide they like Avicii. So. What.
Now you're hating on 'cloners'. Let me just give you an example of how outrageous this is. I myself have been a huge fan of EDM for about 12 years now, yet Sandro Silva & Quintino's "Epic" was the first real Bigroom House track I heard. I liked it. Now say I still liked Bigroom, would I be a cloner for 'jumping on the bandwagon'? Then I must ask you: When exactly did you start listening to Hardstyle? 3 Years ago? 5 Years ago? You got to start somewhere, and it's usually a popular track that gets you into the genre for the simple reason that popular stuff gets the most attention.
Sure, this means there are now people at Hardstyle festivals that are hardly fans of the music, but guess what, they were there 5 years ago as well. Less, ofcourse, but they were there.
This whole elitistic view was what crumbled the hardstyle scene years ago. Styles were changing, a lot of people who had been listening to Hardstyle for years felt like the newer listeners, who often got introduced to hardstyle through melodic tracks, were 'cheesy' people. Things change, styles do too. That's why I largely moved on from Hardstyle and really only go to a couple of outdoor festivals each year. I know the old DJ's well, but I usually have no clue what tracks are being spun, unless it's old stuff. I party my ass off, though I could easily be considered a 'fake' fan. I'm also a huge House fan. Major Avicii fan actually. Am I now a mainstream follower, or could it be that I started listening to House 12 years ago, and been a massive Avicii fan since I heard tracks like "I'm so sorry Mr. Atari" or "Muja" and realised this guy could grow to become awesome, long before the crowds ever heard of the name? I've been loving his style immensely and apperantly more people do too.

Opportunist will never stop copying as long as it keeps bringing them success.Astroshade wrote:...
My question was, when will this end? When will opportunists stop copying? There is nothing wrong in asking questions. You ask me when will I die, and all I can say is "Dunno". I'd accept an answer like that, or "Never - House ftw" or "Hopefully it died yesterday" u know.
I don't hate, so don't get too worked up about it man.
I'm confused why you bring up the so called 'fake' fans, if you even think they exist I wouldn't know why you would associate yourself with them just because you listen to the same music as them. You do seem to have a problem with them because they experience the music differently than you do, by that I mean that you know more about the music like the Tim Berg / Avicii thing. You seem to be afraid that the same is going to happen to Hardstyle like it is happening with Electro House (not Progressive House) right now. And seriously what is the problem if there are a lot of them and if those people keep letting the radio / the majority dictate their taste? We can allways stay in our clan of likeminded idiots

To answer your question: I don't think progressive house will really die out because I think it already has died out some time ago. I do think it is gaining popularity again but Electro House has to be the most dominant EDM genre right now. Electro House won't remain dominant for a long time, all the producers of that genre have been making repetitive stuff for a while now so I would give it maybe a year or two..

The point is that the question was, when do you think this would die out... I'd say give it another 2 years.
About the fake fans, he's just talking about how people go with the flow. And yes, the radio does tell you what to hear, indirectly but it does. They do this by passing the same 50 songs on the radio everyday, so everybody will listen to it and think it's good "ya know because if the majority of radio stations pass those songs, it's gotta be good ye?", which means if a large amount of people listen to it because of the radio, another large amount will also listen to said genre because lots of people are hearing it, because they're afraid of being left out. Since some of us are not part of the scene, we're "weirdos" and have shitty taste. Whenever someone says that I ask them why have they stopped listening to other things that went out of popularity like dubstep, rap, pop... Yeah and you know we're eff'd when pop, the most mind controlling genre is out of popularity... What I mean to say is, just stick with what you hear, and if someone tries to make fun of you, either ignore them, or troll them to death.

Anyways, this thing just got out of control or people are trolling their 4ss off.

Like I don´t mind spicing up a conversation, that's what makes things interesting when we all think different. But accusing ppl of thinking they're supreme and "hating on cloners", without reading or even understanding the whole context... well that's a bit immature.
AAAANYWAY since someone asked me how long i've been listening to HS:
A bit over 8 yrs... unclear exactly when I started drooling over it, somewhere when Deepack was rolling, Donkeyrollers, Yoji Biomehanika etc.
Aaaand, I like house as well. Just not the kind we hear on the radio. And I loved Tiesto before he went house, same goes for Axwell when he was trancy:er.
