Removal of overlapping of kick

Post by DeadJack »

Hi Guys,

I am currently attempting to make a HardStyle, more specifically a RawStyle, kick in Fl studio and am currently EQ'ing and Distorting my kick. While doing this i am getting a weird reverse bass like sound at the end of my kick. I have tried Shortening the kick in the channel settings but it sounds no different until it leaves practically just the tok of the kick left. Is there anything else i can try to shorten the kick?

Additional information: I made the kick with MicroTonic but have recorded it into edison and then imported it to a new project as a stand alone sample.

Cheers!

Dead Jack

First of all try to use a 909 kickdrum.
While using a 909, you can EQ and Distort the kick what ever you want.
Also with a 909 you can set the length of the kick.

Why are you working with Microtonic?

Try adding a volume enveloppe before all your effects, maybe that can resolve the problem ;)

You can also do that with Microtonic.

It's normal to get some phasing or otherwise unwanted sounds towards the end of a tail after you have gone through a few layers of distortion. People just fade it out after recording in Edison, you'll only need about 350ms of tail.

If it's giving you phasing or clipping bass sounds even earlier, and you are dead set on using Microtonic, try a different BassDrum preset. There are some decent ones for turning into more of a hardstyle kick. I know JvB BD Onyx was one, and i think the other was right next to it.

While this is true, Microtonic is also one of the few programs that offer you to make your own "preset", meaning your able to make a Kick from scratch with the init preset function.
Even though I rarely use Microtonic for Kicks, I think that would be the best way to go.
Music needs Character.
Sometimes standing for what you believe, means standing alone.

uTonic is one of the best drum synths around. The fact you can synthesis the kick from scratch is great, although uTonic is a bit like drumazon in the sense that it is quite difficult to have the kick sitting exactly on the note you require, and will need to be pitch shifted onto your desired note after making the ''909''

Well i just gave an opinion right there.
I guess everyone has his own opinion about creating kicks.
So i guess you should take some time and try different things, then look what is best for you.

Of course, that's the most important thing
