I Need Another Pair Of Ears

Post by Digital Shifter »

Hello,

First of all i'm gonna tell you my story, because that's why i'm here.
For 5 and a half years i have put myself up to the test to create hardstyle.
From kicks to synths, screeches to plucks from FX to mixdown etc.
I'm now at a point where i can create hardstyle in anyway i want to.
I have control.
In these years, i have put 2 previews on youtube. 1 Remix, 1 Original track of myself. (Those tracks are right now 1 year old)
I go under the alias: Freak'NZ
I wasn't happy at all with those tracks because the sound design was shit.
So i spend more time on my sound design. I quitted school and have right now a 3 day job. Just to put every second into my music.
I can tell you that my sound design is really good at this point.
I really think that my sounds are close to being proffesional.
But there you have it. ''Almost''
I need another pair of ears who can tell me what i can do better.
It's not gonna be my kick or anything, it's just pure my mixdown and maybe the sounds that needs more eqing.
That why i'm searching for someone who has more skill than i have at this point.
Is there someone which i can share my music with?
Someone who can tell me like: ''hey, you need to look at this maybe?''

Have a nice weekend!

EDIT: In other words, i only have one perspective and that is from myself. I want another producer to share his opinion!

You need someone with more skills but without an track/example of your side it's actually very difficult for someone to know if they're better. :)

Like i said, i don't want to post anything on youtube or soundcloud. Skype is a good way to share your tracks though. ;)

hmm I'll say this but I guess some people may not agree with me

Your own ears are the best ears. When you worked on something/finished something I can understand that you are confused whether the mixdown sounds right or not.. but at this point you need to leave it...for at least a week.
Then, after a week or so, you need to listen again and believe me your ears will be totally fresh and ready to criticise your own work at this point. Only you can decide whether something needs more/less treble or more/less bass for example, That is a part of musical art as well.

If someone else suggest for example... a sound needs more treble - well this is him giving his own artist opinion and telling you to change it the way he would like it to sound

when Mastering audio however - that's a totally different story
Purpose, thou art the compass.

^ Thanks for your time to comment here.
That is true i guess, i heard that from a mate once before, that you need a break from your track.
I'm not mastering my own track, it's about the quality of my track(s)
I want the quality that everything is just right and nothing is wrong.
