well I don´t know why, I tried to create a supersaw on moog basis in omnisphere now, but somehow it sounds like it is phasing/cancelling out the wave, or like I have some flanger or hard chorus on it, and I remember having had that problem earlier. I don´t know if there is something selected that I cannot see but in sylenth I have this problem only when the oscillator is in retriggering mode and I can simply deselect it and detune it. In Omnisphere I find nothing that could cause this behaviour..Imminent Danger wrote:If you find omnisphere confusing then virus would be confusing as well, both matrixes are very similarDj Reaper wrote:Haha I have Omnisphere but I use it more for it´s great sampled sounds! I find the GUI a bit confusing, but I´ll try to make a supersaw lead with it basing on the virus waveform and compare it to the sylenth supersaw to see the difference. Tough the virus has many other advantages I heard, like the filters, so having Omnisphjere will not entirely replace/or demonstrate a Virus..
Virus TI, worth buying?

Here, you can compare to a virus if you wantDj Reaper wrote:Haha I have Omnisphere but I use it more for it´s great sampled sounds! In sylenth not, in omnisphere it sounds like they are but I can´t find an option to deselect them..SCH wrote:Are your retriggers seriously turned on?

A guy from the kvr audio forums created the exact same supersaw/hypersaw patch in Virus TI and several software synthezisers, f.e. Sylenth1, Spire, Diva, Massive or Dune, all (including the Virus) running through the same external delay and reverb. Maybe it helps with your decision:
In my opinion (based on these audio samples), especially the Spire comes very very close to sound of the Virus (I barely notice any difference, to be honest). Sylenth1 sounds a little different, but not really worse.

Yeah but it is about the gear sometimes.Alphajuno wrote:Perfect example that show you it's not about the gear, but about the music.
The difference is soooo incredibly subtle, when used in a track you will never notice it if you don't know.
As an artist people use the gear, they connect with the gear, it needs to feel right.
Yes in this day an age of ridonkulously powerful computers, you can get any synth to sound like any other synth with enough time and energy. But I don't feel that you should be spending so much time and energy tweaking and tweaking - its very bad for creativity.
Instead, I believe that if I can pull a good sound from one source in 5 minutes rather another than 5 hours of tweaking, then its worth investing into.
It is for this reason that I recommend people to buy a virus. When I use a Virus for my lead sounds, I spend 5-10 minutes making a sound from scratch and a little bit of EQ'ing and compression to get it to fit nice in the track. Thats it. I don't lose my creative flow, I don't tweak for hours on end and question the end result, I get it to fit right, and to feel right quickly and easily and move on with the more fun parts of the track.
The tools that we use in music should be tools that we feel comfortable with and enjoy using that can keep our creative flow going.
Well that is totally right. For the exact same reason I bought myself a Roland Juno2. You can get other synths to sound similar after a lot off tweaking, but it never sounded right to me, so I just went for the real deal.audiofreq wrote:

Basically each synth has it's own character. You either love it or hate it. But trying to force it to do something else can be pretty frustrating.
Not cut from the same mold!
