Frontliner gives his kick away.

Post by Digital Shifter »

Good morning!

Today i saw that frontliner has given away his kick. He already had a discussion on facebook why he should not give away his kick. Most of the people where against it because i think and they think it is important to learn to create your own kick. And i think this is a solid thing! Why did he give away his kick?

''Because creativity outweighs boundaries and it takes more than a good kick to create a great track. This is for hardstyle!'' - Frontliner

I think this point doesn't make any sense at all to me. Because a good hardstyle track begins with the kick. The kick brings the atmosphere into the track. It makes the track more complete by the type of kick you have created in my opinion. I started to create my own kicks 3.5 to 4 years ago. And to this day i never thought of stealing or using someone elses kick because i would not feel good about it if it wasn't my own kick! I don't say that other producers who can't create a kick are weak or stupid, but i think it's a basic thing to learn. And if he is talking about like; ''Giving the producer an opportunity to grow''. Allright that is true. But then what? Should we give respect to the track they created with someone else his kick? It took me 4 years to fully understand how to create a really good hardstyle kick. And yes, it is really hard to create. But if you really want to grow into the hardstyle scene it is more likely to create your own sound. And that's what i did. Now i'm not jealous at all. But i think it isn't fair if someone get's a good record deal within a big label with frontliner his kick than other people who really took there time to create there own sound. I really want a good discussion out of this one. It's not to step on someone's toes or to spread hate. It's just my opinion!.

And yeah, maybe it's ok to producers who don't have time to create there kick and just create hardstyle for fun.
But i think it's weird to give your own sound away that makes/creates who you are. In this case frontliner.

Greetings,

this is the chance for other producers who are working on their kicks to differentiate themselves from the guys who will just chuck this kick in and hope for the best. and it'll show in other elements of the production as well, from sound design to mix down

Well i think that if you cannot create your own kick you're missing a big part of sound design then. With only creating a kick i learned a lot about the plugins and sound design! ;D

But then what? Within one month you will see new producers proudly presenting there new hardstyle track and then everyone is like; well it's a good track but it's frontliner his kick. Is this how you want to represent yourself? And then after a while more people will create and release tracks with frontliner his kick.

i never understood this kick obsession completely, for me secondary and primary (except kick) sounddesign was always more important.

^I like this post

but now there may also be a moment when someone make a kick themselves which sounds coincidently similar to frontliners kick, and nobody will believe they made it :P

Well i have to say this. As you know it took me 4 years to understand the kick. So i think it is an unique element. And it's normal that the sound design needs to be good, it's a thing you expect to be good. So the type of kick on top of the ''Sound Design->(Leads, Screeches etc.)'' makes the picture complete for some people.
