Why was 2006 such a good year for hardstyle

Post by dylannn »

As I stumbled through the archives of harderstate I came across the topic of 'what was the best year for hardstyle'
2006 seemed to be an easy winner

Unfortunately I got into hardstyle a year or two after 2006...
So who wants to tell me what it was about 06 that was so damn good :)
Share best releases etc (fear fm hadn't started its charts then so I may be missing a whole heaps of great tracks from that era)!

Cheers

A lot of hard gated kicks, reversed bass through whole tracks, simple melodies - Yet nustyle was on the rise with more complex melodies and pitching kicks so yeah, the year had something for most people :+
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

That was 07 and had nothing to do with The Prophet.

06 was the best year for Saifam, Miss Kidman on a cruise, Infinity, Speaker Leader etc. Also we got the release of the Sacrifice, 2 legendary anthems in The Darkside and Colours. Plus the advent of Nu Style :P

2006 was practicly the year that hardstyle shared both earlier types of hardstyle, but harder (for example old showtek, zany and technoboy) and the uprising of nu-style (headhunterz, DBSTF etc).
also, 2006 was one of the years that technoboy & co dominated the scene, aswell as straighton recordings and activa.. and some very awesome q-dance parties (InQontrol (L) )

the diversity was at its best and pretty much every track was insane from all the Italians, Dutchies and everyone else that started to appear (mindhunterz, carnifex, brainkicker, kayem, etc)

2006 was the transition year and to be honest some of the tunes from that time are absolutely legendary.
Vicious gives the perfect examples :)
