Inspiration? Getting started?

Post by maxellon23 »

How do you get started on a song? I dont know if Im looking for general advice or whatever, but what is it that usually motivates you to create a certain song?

I often start to create a cool melody and work around that.

This..
I often start with mid intro's or just randomly creating sounds and putting them together. Then, most of the time, inspiration hits me and I know exactly what kind of track I'd like to make. ^^

i just load in a clap, and loop it. Load up a vst and start making sounds, playing riffs/jamming on my keyboard until I get something I like. Then the process begins :)

Making a template saves a lot of time. Somethimes I start with a melody, other times I start with a vocal or sound. It depends on my mood. Listening to a wide variaty of music often helps alot aswell.

What you have to do is feel confident about what you're going to do. Then when you feel happy about your hardware and all that, keep a good feeling going with you and put down in the sequencer whatever you feel like at that moment

I like to start with Presets (mine ofc, if not I'm replacing them with my own presets later) and trying to make the downer notes of a melody. Then I'm just messing around till I have a good Melody. After that I start perfectionizing the Leads and starting with a short buildup (Breakdown, Pre-Climax, after that the actual Climax/Anti-Climax). And then I'm doing the rest when I get ideas.

To get inspiration I'm just going through some Tracks and try to find something inspiring. Even though I don't like classic at all I have to say it's perfect for inspiring yorself to find a nice melody. :)
