My issue with producing.

Post by xxc111 »

I didn't know where to put this topic so i put it here. Anyways, I've been producing for a year and a couple of months now. But I really don't know what's happening with me lately. I can't start or finish a single project. I have an ideas but i just can't seem to make any of them. So these last 2 months I've been just recreating some midis and stuff. Producing is all I want to do and it's the only thing that I'm happy with. But as I said for some reason I can't do shit now. What's the problem? And how to fix this? Should I let it go for couple of months? Thanks. :)

You have only been producing for a couple of months, and the phase you are going through now, has happened to all of us.

Don't let this de motivate you, but "good" things, will come after 2-3 years of really hard and intense work. Simply don't give up, now, or next year. It takes time, lot's of time.

You will experience, that maybe in 2-3 month, you create something you think "Wow, this is really good", then 2-3 month goes by, and you will think "The fuck, why did i even export this shit", that will happen for some time, but then your mixdowns start to get tight, and you seem to be able to get ideas layed down into your DAW, pretty easy.

And from 2-3 and years and forward, things go really fast, because you are able to create that awesome track. instrumental or whatever you are doing.

This of course also depends from person to person, and how much time they put into producing.

Trust me I've been in the same spot, after 2 months, after 1 year, even after 2 years, i was like, "shit when does my stuff improve", then within the next 6 months, things improved like crazy. And today I'm so happy that i didn't quit, and kept on producing for as much time i had available.

So just keep producing !

I am kinda in the same phase as well! Instead though, I try out different gernes, learn about those things and improve myself! Hardstyle I just seem to be empty with, but maybe in the future I come up with an epic idea and will work it our! Right now I focus on basically everything else! And so far, I've learned a lot. Just don't give up, cause I know I won't either! If you have the creativity and ideas + motivation, you'll get where you want. It just takes time :)

Feel the same way with Hardstyle, before i was almost fanatic about it. I only listened to Hardstyle, even though i liked other kind of music. The first year of producing i only tried to do Hardstyle, but then i put it aside and started doing more House/Trance type of music. Today i listen to Hardstyle very rarely, I've almost lost all interest in it, and I'm never even trying to create something. Well what I'm trying to say is, don't lock yourself to something (Like Diamanic says), you don't necesarily wanna be making Hardstyle just because you listen to it all the time.

I've exacly the same thing!

or maybe 2 other things.
My ears are 'evolving' faster than the progress that i make.. so i think that all i create now is absolutely horrible and that demotivates to finish something... Apart from that i'm also a perfectionist making it even harder some times.
even though i do make progress i sometimes really doubt if this is it for me.. i do have a small bedroom studio because i really liked producing when i started it.. but i do not enjoy it anymore the way i did it before.. i feel forced and not free in creativity even though i just do what i want to do. It also seems that i'm far better at djing than stuff like this..

and i also have a really hard time reading all kinds of theory even though i find it interesting my mind wanders off pretty quickly... (blame the adhd :P )

But i quess this is a phase everyone goes through.
I would love to hear or read about this from the professionals and how they conquerd this phase
in succession from the past to the present.. and on to the future!
