So don't be surprised if we @musicalfreedom release a #Trap or #Hardstyle track!

Well let's see what kind of tracks we can expect there, probably some NC tracks.

One thing bugging me - why is the term 'EDM' being bashed by half of the scene putting it in the same box as poser fans of hardwell and skrillex or the whole yolo nonsense? That term has been around since like late 90s, electronic music fans has been using it since i can remember (i myself started in cca 2003) but all of sudden people saying and writing EDM are retards and posers? i dont exactly understand that.

Because EDM is being thought of as a synonym for popular electronic music nowadays. It's being used by all the mainstream listeners for the typical house/electro/dubstep tracks everywhere, which makes fans of other electronic dance music not use it because they don't want to be associated with that. At least that's what I think. I would still refer to genres like hardcore and industrial as edm though.
Something I've been thinking about lately is how people hate on music. It's one of the most common topics, obviously. I think it's because music has become so saturated that we've been spoiled to shit. When you see your favorite music get stale and copied till death, ultimately changing so far from what it used to be when you really liked it, that you start getting mad at it. There's nothing you can do to prevent that change away from what you loved, and the amount of love you once had for that music defines how much and how long you will hope for it to return to how it was, which will obviously never happen. And that's with every music type, just as with pop music from 10/20 years back. When you see people really enjoying the music you are now getting mad at (because for those people, this is currently the best) that amplifies it I think.
Anybody in on this? It seems pretty logical to me that it's mostly because of this, along with elitism in people (and I think a lot of people have got that) that want to feel more special for listening to unknown/new music. And some nostalgia of course.
Aaaand my track has been exported

I agree with pretty much everything in this post.Nitrax wrote:Because EDM is being thought of as a synonym for popular electronic music nowadays. If someone asks me what I listen to, I would probably not say "EDM", since that would, as explained above, assosiate me with the fistpumping poser mainstream-dude, which I don't want. I would rather say "rave" or "HDM". (Rave not being really correct, but to normal people rave means weird electronic music, and that's good enough for me.
And yes, a style changing produces alot of anger and opinions. Just look in this forum, whenever nu vs old comes up, there's a heated discussion.

the thing people seem to forget, is all dance music is EDM. House, trance, industrial, speedcore and all in between those - even most pop is EDM because its got dance/house/trance influences in it.
people need to get over the term imo
