Thank you much kind sir! I shall begin my hunt anew! I always enjoy the things you have to say, good perspective you've got there and im honored you took the time to write your comments in this thread.audiofreq wrote:BoyNoize is epic along with the DogBlood stuff. Bart B More and Oliver Twizt have done stuff with BoyNoize records and they might be of interest for you to check out. I also like Axwell, Marcus Schossow (heard some new stuff today and wow, really summery!) Alex Metric (love!), Eddie Thonick, D Ramirez, a bit of Alesso and Vato Gonzalez. Some of Diplo's house is really cool too! Far Too Loud and Knife Party come up with some cool material, even if it sounds like the stuff in the Epicmashleg. House being so versatile and vast, it really depends on my mood and what I listen to. Some times I like a bit of deep house with funkier vibes and jazzy elements, other times I prefer the switch-my-brain-off-commercial-EDM-stompers.BeatConductor wrote: If i may ask, what are some artists you enjoy in the house genre and subsequent subgenres?
I enjoy nom de strip, tradelove, michael woods, eric prydz, pryda, disco cell, boys noize, moguai and nicky romero.
Even with those names, I feel that I've barely scratched the surface and I don't put as much time into digging as I should. But then again, I could better use that time writing new stuffHard to find that balance.
I've been turned off complextro (what a terrible name) stuff though, I just don't find it that exciting any more. Dare I say, it sounds kinda dated.
Geck-o/e put me onto Gary Beck who makes some really incredible techno and his stuff has blown my mind. Len Faki and Oliver Huntemann make some cool techno too. Techno really requires a different approach to the musical experience. Its very emotional and intense when you let yourself open up to it.
These names are just for 4 to the floor club music though. I listen to a lot of other music too. The new Neosignal album is pretty dope, as is ShockOne's Universus, but I actually am loving Groove Armada's White Light album because of its faux-retro/vintage synth pop vibes. Same with the new Empire of the Sun. Kraftwork's Tour de France album is a cool insight into the vibes that the godfathers of electronic music made and there's a special place in my heart for Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre. Alix Perez's album is really different, Miami Horror's Illumination album is very funky. Phonat's new EP is really chilled and glitchy but fresh too.
There's a lot of incredible music out there, more than what there ever has been before. Just when there's more music, there's also more not-so good music. I call it the signal to noise ratio. More signal (good music), more noise. Plus just because music isn't new or freshly released doesn't mean it can't be new to you. I've been peering into the past recently to better appreciate the origins of our music with 70's 'experimental synthesizer music' and 80's synth pop.
I understand, i guess it was just a disappointment more than anything. I used to download top 40 lists and so on a few years ago and they were usually filled with bombs. I just need to look more.Reverser wrote:There's a shitload of good music in nearly every genre. You just need to how to find it.
Yeah i know, it's a populism, but it's just the truth. Audiofreq developed it a bit more deeper.
You don't seek in McDonald an oriential food, right. So, you don't seek for good music (generally cuz sometimes great track/artist might be really popular as well ie Noisia) in overall Top30 or something like that.

All good man, i was the same way. I was satisfied with a lot of the top 40 tracks. There was more than enough there to keep me entertained. Nowadays though, i don't even bother with some producers anymore.ItsHeavyMOFO wrote:I found this happened to me with hardstyle. I used to get all the top 40 tracks a couple years ago, but now I dont bother with some releases. I feel like its more about how my taste in music has changed seeing how before I despised stuff like spoontech and what Thera was doing, now I love it. But yea sorry about talking about hardstyle in this section.I thought it was a good example.

I dont think house is fit for festivals personally. I like the kind that would sound great in a large club setting.DjPractice wrote:i like the easy listening, floaty, soft and fuzzy house (which is more like progressive)
the whole gritty, festival, in your face house stuff doesnt do anything for me
