WTF is wrong with music these days?
I just downloaded the beatport top 100 for june even though i had already heard this. I've been going through the tracks to find the keeps and i've already deleted about half of them because they all sound the same.
Hardstyle is like this too. Wtf is going on? I cant be the only one facepalming over this shit.
EDIT: For those who dont know what that epic mashleg is, two houseish artists took 16 of the top 100 beatport "house" tunes and put them together in a 54 second mashup. For the lulz.

alas, the reason WHY I DO NOT LIKE HOUSE
btw, has anyone ever noticed more house music is sounding like early jumpstyle? can't help but imagining Dj Ruthless playing similar tunes. Unfortunately for these tunes.. they're to fucking SLOW!!!!

those artists you're listening to are sellouts
if you look to other sources there is still good house music out there..
check out James Holden, Chris Reece and duderstadt podcasts if you're into progressive house
other GOOD house would be the now Showtek, Noisecontrollers, Shilo and you simply can't complain about deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner

Purpose, thou art the compass.
Just search through different labels and different artists, you will always find unique & quality stuff
Nowadays I listen to
Electro (Porter Robinson, Far Too Loud, Knife Party, Astronaut, Mord Fustang, Dada Life...)
Dubstep (Seven Lions, Falcon Funk, Zomboy, Kill The Noise...)
House, Funk, Tribal (Federico Scavo, Gary Caos, My Digital Enemy, Prok & Fitch, Chocolate Puma, Roul & Doors..)
Quality Prog House (Axwell, Arty, Mat Zo...)
Glitch Hop / Moombathon (Pegboard Nerds, Fractal, Au5, KOAN Sound, The M Machine...)
Trance (Orjan Nilsen, Juventa, Audien, Alexander Popov, Ferry Corsten...)
Trap (Pegboard Nerds, Flux Pavilion (also Dubstep)...)
and of course Hardstyle.
and Soundtracks
and classical music
and
enough to explore

Indeed there is, just very hard to find. Im just mostly upset that top 100 lists arent very amazing. Its just so sad that general populace taste is so... mediocre. I've found a couple of good artists recently (Nom De StripSoundphase wrote:those artists you're listening to are sellouts

yes this is kinda sad I guess, but when you think about it, the best producers are the ones who care more about the music, and less about the fame

I personally consider them electronica but i dont even know what the textbook definition of electronica is. To me it means Daft Punk! Alive 2007 has to be the best live show ive ever heard. So much so that i cant listen to any of the tracks used any other way.Shadow Interaction wrote:can't argue with that, even have the 4x4 album by deadmau, surprised i liked the whole thing... but not enough for me to like the whole genreSoundphase wrote:deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner

Firstly, the tastes of people are different, all what you can see on a top 100 list, like this, couldn't be the best for youBeatConductor wrote: Indeed there is, just very hard to find. I've found a couple of good artists recently (Nom De Strip), but for every one good one is three that sounds exactly the same.

Secondly, the elements of those tracks are closer to the people (if I can say this way), they have those things which make others listening to them and make a song catchy for them, too. I also have a "strange face" seeing all the lists anyway
