Hardstyle obsession with letter Z?
Hardstyle obsession with letter Z?
I'm sure this has been discussed to death but i can't seem to locate any threads, if there is one already please point me in the right direction.
So... has there been any general consensus reached as to why so many hardstyle artists replace the letter S with the letter Z in their name?
Is it just a complete lack of creativity?
Were they all 12 when they thought of their name?
Perhaps marketing experts have told them that more teenagers will think the name is cool and will buy their tracks?
Are they trying to sell music by associating themselves with popular artists that do that? Hoping consumers will think they are connected in some way?
Does anyone else out there find themselves avoiding such artist for that very reason or have I just completely lost my mind? Part of me feels like I shouldn’t be rewarding them for trying to have a name like 100 other artists.

It's not only the "z" but I find hardstyle artist names to be incredibly lame most of the time: Audiotricz / Bass Modulators / Wildstylez / Gunz For Hire etc etc. House artist names generally sound way cooler and more original: Avicii / Marco V. / Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike / Fedde Le Grand etc

Letter z has a very special meaning in producers life and music they produce.
This fact was known in great ancient Greece and beyond. Nowadays letter z in "EBCDIC family" has the decimal meaning of 169, number 1 is important to all people who seek popularity since they want to be number 1 in the charts and amongst the genre fans. Furthermore 69 is a great sex pose, sex is one of the many rituals producers must do to get inspired. If we go even further 69 reversed is 96, 9 - 6 = 3 (Half Life 3 confirmed).
Games are second nature of music, every sound is like a game which entertains people. Z is used in writing to represent the act of sleeping (sometimes as 'zzz' or 'zzzz'), that shows us another reason why producers use only one z usually, they don't want people to get asleep while listening to their music. However sometimes when you pronounce the name ending with z you tend to drag the z and it sounds like "zzzz", this gives producer an opportunity to repeat his name in the head to get a better sleep.
This shows a fact that producer likes to sleep a lot and sleeping is great way to dream about the music. Dreams are another inspiration for music.
Overall, the extra z at the end makes the producers better, they can feel in control of the music due to the extra power of 69 and dreams, number 1 adds the extra special feeling. So you should definitely keep at an eye of those producers since they have a better change to create more unique sounds.
(same goes for DJ's).

All those are good names apart from 'Donkey Rollers'. I've always thought it to be the worst Hardstyle name of all(until Gunz 4 Hire & Wasted Penguins came along).John Cove wrote:There are some nice exceptions tho: The Machine, Digital Punk, Code Black, Donkey Rollers, Jack of Sound
This. Bass Modulators, Toneshifterz, Noisecontrollers - I haven't seen so lame names in other genres, don't know why only hardstyle producers have such low level of creativity when it comes to thinking of a nameDjVero wrote:It's not only the "z" but I find hardstyle artist names to be incredibly lame most of the time: Audiotricz / Bass Modulators / Wildstylez / Gunz For Hire etc etc. House artist names generally sound way cooler and more original: Avicii / Marco V. / Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike / Fedde Le Grand etc

And come on, Donkey Rollers is a great alias!
