Hardstyle FX using pitch in Cubase?

Post by jontah »

So, I've been noticing that most producers that are using Cubase are using the built in pitch machine in Cubase to change the sound of their Hardstyle FX.

For you Cubase users out there - why do they use this pitch machine and how does it change your sound / what can you do with it? I always see Frontliner and other artists open that and tweak it to change the sound.

Would be really interesting to learn this.

Cheers alot.

u can Pitch every part of a Sound seperatly
(the cubase pitch is called "variaudio" it offers different pitch algorithms and co. there are even other 2 build in pitch machines)
btw variaudio even Analysis the Pitch u already have not perfect but good.
if u work on vocals it automaticly analysis the pitch of the sound like said ,than u just need to push it up or down or slice whatver u want.

lets say u have a Stab sound.
u can pitch 1 half down and the other half up. and u can change the Pitch Transitions of 2 different pitch tones.
so u can change the vocal harmony like a pro. (cubase in general is badass for Recorded stuff and Vocal editing).

what i always do if i work on hardstyle things.
make a screech/sound and then export it dry and slice it up and than change the pitch of each sound with variaudio .

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

hey! interesting, haven't really looked into variaudio that much.

But this is what frontliner and those other producers use:

I've seen them open it several times and doing something with it that changes the sound of the hardstyle fx. What is it that they really do with it?

I'm also wondering about what audio editor this is and why "Frontliner" is using it inside of Cubase? any reason of why it should be better than lets say cubase itself?

I'm also wondering how he customizes it so that it opens when he doubleclicks the sample.

Would appreciate the answers alot! Thanks.

about the 1st video thats the Cubase "pitch shift" plugin not what i meant .
about the second video i have no idea , it could be Adobe Audition propably but it has nothing to do with cubase.
its an Wave editor as well and it has imo the best way to pitch stuff cause of the Dirac Pitch Algorithm

Here Frontliner does it!

What is he actually doing? I mean if he's pitchshifting that particular effect, doesn't he get out of tune then? or is he using it as a detuning tool or something?

well.. when you pitch a sound with a pitch shifter, It boosts the formants of a sound and thus the frequencies become "excited" (the brightness of the sound is increased), sometimes it can be to good effect, sometimes not

in some plugins you can get a pitch shifter in which you can choose to only boost the formants of the sound and leave the pitch alone

an example would be a Japanese VST plugin called "internet Adv pitch shift 2" I've tried it on my laptop and it worked really nicely. Sadly it didn't work on 64bit pc.

THAT's REALLY what I was looking for! really interesting! Thanks alot. Any more info on this or how to use it to boost the formants in a nice way using the built in pitch shifter inside of cubase? It seems loads of producers are using this technique inside of Cubase
