can anyone explain it to me? i uploaded a quick kick test and 3 people so far says it's out of key, but i don't even know what that is. i dont even know if they talk about the melody or the kick itself.
here's the kick.
if it's about the kick, then any mod can merge this into that kick troubleshoot thread.

Out of Key means that the kick doesn't play on the notes according to the melody.
Get yourself a plugin to check what note your kick is playing on.
I can recommend GTune for that.

okay, my kick is on G when it's on C5, but how am i supposed to get it to follow the melody then?
like here, the bass notes are on F,B,C (if i don't see them wrong).

If your using FL Studio, open your kick and select the INS tab and change the root note to G. That the kick plays G on C5 is normal since this key will give you the original sample( your kick on G)
So if you gonna play a C# you'll pitch your G kick about 1 semitone = G# and so on.
But i can't tell you how you're going to pitch correctly via the Piano roll (e.g without length-altering) what i do is that i pitch my kicks with Cool Edit Pro and load every single Sample into the DAW.
And your Bassnotes are F#,A,C#
So if you gonna play a C# you'll pitch your G kick about 1 semitone = G# and so on.

So if the bassline progresses from F, F, G, A# or something... Make your kick in F. Pitching upwards also sounds nicer then pitching a kick made on G downwards. Atleast, that is my opinion.
