Thank you captain obvious :pacman: .
BTW I have a theory, that more catchy a song is, worse the musical quality gets. (there are some exceptions ofc)

Well I disagree with that. A good song usually stands out because of its 'hook', which by definition is always meant to be 'catchy'.

I agree, catchy doesn't mean bad, but the thing I just don't get is, when people start focusing on the catchy part more than the musical quality. Or of course I get it, it's because they want money, but I'm starting to hate it a lot

Yeah but that's commercialism and it's been like that for years already. For lots of people, music is just pleasant for the hearing and they don't give a crap about lyrics or arragements or originality. They just want feel-good stuff with a happy videoclip, preferably with a funny dance they can immitate, so they'd rather listen to and watch PSY being all happy and childish than Led Zeppelin singig about actual stuff. I am partly one of those people, and I think lots of people here are. Sometimes I just want to hear something funny or so, and then I don't care if it has any musical value or not. Personally, I think lots hardstyle and other dance styles don't have much 'musical quality' either(of course there are tracks that do IMO). It is pretty much like this track, catchy and/or happy and/or energetic, good for partying and stuff, but it has no meaning whatsoever. The difference obviously being that dance music is usually meant to be more serious than this.

But as long as there are people who actually care about lyrics and stuff like that, there will be plenty of meanigful music to enjoy. Let others decide what they like, and if they really want to listen to this kind of stuff 24/h a day, well they miss out on a lot. I can't hate those people, not everyone is as much into music as you and I are. The only thing I do hate is when people like that criticize my music taste...

Yeah indeed.
I've noticed that a lot from people around me. My mum and sister for instance never listen to anything new or different, they just listen to one of those hit radios, which I really don't like.
But yeah, you're right of course there will be quality music around, as long as there are people that want to do quality music, and I think there always will be. I'm glad that not all of them are underground and a lot of quality tracks see the light of day (for example Daft Punk's new single that instantly became #1 in the Danish iTunes chart). So yeah I was being to dramatic, not thinking about Crazy Frog and Aqua lol :P
