Compressors and stuff make strange noise on release
Hi
I am producing a Hardcore-Track right now and have applied some compressors, Eqs and other stuff on the Kick, to make it powerful. But now when I shorten the decay of my Kick, some plugins, mostly the compressor, cause it to make a weird noise after the kick.
I found out it has mostly to do with the Gain, and if distortion is applied after those plugins that noise obviously gets louder, but I need the gain to be high for the kicksound I want, so what can I do to eliminate that noise and still keep all my settings as they are?
Sorry, I wasn´t sure wether this is about kick trouble shooting or rather compressors in general and so I decided to not post it into the kicks topic, so that it gets seen easily. I apologize if it disturbs here, feel free to move it to the kick topic if needed.

post a sample of your sound and this belongs to the kicks / General / Troubleshooting Topic.

See bro compressors make things worse its not about the loudness of the kick its how it actually sounds there are many factors affecting your kick other than the compressor such as EQ'ing try fixing the EQ and don't put too much gain it can make things worse especially it ruins the high and low frequency of the kick. When kick making don't compress the kick instead master the track along with the kick this way you can achieve a good balance

Oh, I´m sorry. I will post the sound in the kicks topic.
I don´t think kicks shouldn´t be compressed at a certain point (many producers do that, even Angerfist). Though I am doing something wrong. I´ll try in future to follow your advice, and use fewer compressors and less gain (if possible, ´cause in kickmaking still a bit of experimentating needs to be).

There are many ways to increase the sound of your kick its all about experimenting different things and tweaking wherever possible,The hours of work actually matter the more you work you put on a kick the better it sounds it takes producers a period of 2-3 weeks to complete a kick btw after being sure 100% that this is the right one

what you smoking man lol if you dont know how to use a compressor properly, you should learn it, not avoid it. Compressors are essential in production, they keep elements in the track under control.Desertoz wrote:See bro compressors make things worse its not about the loudness of the kick its how it actually sounds there are many factors affecting your kick other than the compressor such as EQ'ing try fixing the EQ and don't put too much gain it can make things worse especially it ruins the high and low frequency of the kick. When kick making don't compress the kick instead master the track along with the kick this way you can achieve a good balance
OP: read up on how to use a compressor, avoid using compressors with input gain, and focus more on the ratios and thresholds, then start experimenting with the attacks and releases, listening carefully to the changes they make. A compressor can make a snare sound extremely snappy and tight, hold a lead in place during automation, improve fader response in the mixdown process, and the many functions available on compressors make them valuable tools in making kicks as well!

anyways if u know how to use the compressor it will pump up ur kick ,give it more controll and more attack if u want.
just dont Over do it , dont compress it too hard .
too much compression will destroy ur Stuff and mess it up.
btw read this better : http://productionadvice.co.uk/using-compression/

Inactive? You were the first to reply. If you'd had anything worthwhile to contribute, surely that would have been the place to do it. And since the subsequent responses happen independently of yours, you would've got to read them anyway whether you'd posted or not, so try again.
