HC is slowly killing my interest in HS

Post by Prozel »

I dont want to sound too hysterical but I've legitimately started to listen to a lot more HC thanks to Spotify than HS. Primary reason must be I really, really dig pounding kicks which you often hear in Industrial (?) tracks and the quality of HS is slowly decreasing (or it's just simply not for me anymore) due to the fact that my favorite artist are releasing a lot less these days.

Anyone feeling the same way, maybe opposite?

Well yes acctualy, i listen mostly hardstyle, but i liked hardcore from the beggining i heard it. Those kicks and BPM's :) But since i'm in hardstyle scene since 2008 I just don't want to quit it since I only need 1 more year to be 18 etc. + I only know mainstream producesors of hardcore (angerfist, EA, endymion etc.) and it would take me a lot of time to get into this scene...

I've been feeling the exact same since Q-Base mate. It spent the fitst half of the festival at the HS stages but near enough every set bored me with the stop, start (mid-intro - breakdown - climax - transition into next long ass mysterious dark vocal - mid-intro - breakdown, etc) HS sets just never blew me away the same as when I'd go see HC.
Also I've been diging more into Industrial and Crossbreed, which brings so much more variation than HS. Don't think I've bought any HS since September, and there's really nothing that intrests me much anymore.
Saying that I still attend HS nights here regularly and still usually have a good night. Think it's more for the people and atmosphere than the sets tbh.

HTID HC4L hahahahaha

Same with me too. The hardstyle now is simply a disgrace. I try not to dwell on that fact too much but the amount of shit getting rammed in my face daily makes me lash out occasionally. Simply a joke now and not what I'm after at all.
Not just Hardcore though, I'm getting joy from Techno/Schranz and Hard Dance/Trance stuff too. This music including Industrial Hardcore is exciting me once again! I'm doing my homework on labels and artists and in time will be sharing a few more new mixes.
For me it's still a shame how I feel about hardstyle now though. I've liked certain tunes from other genres but never needed to look too far because the hardstyle had been so amazing and excited me so much! I loved it! Now I absolutely hate what it is.(apart from a very small amount of producers).

Just really trying to enjoy anything that makes me feel like hardstyle did.

Holy crap.......and I thought I was the only one.

My favourite Hardstyle track was Headhunterz VS Abject - Scantraxx Roots. The kick was simply just unique, and I never heard anything like it at the time. Back then, Hardstyle to me was just weird & unique, exactly what I wanted. Now most of it's just cheesy singalongs and weak, punchless kicks. It sickens me.

For me, Industrial Hardcore fills the hole that early Nu-Style left. I do like a few tracks from DJ Thera & Donkey Rollers now & then, but most Hardstyle these days is cramped with the same horrible-tasting cheese that Skrillex used to screw over Dubstep.....

I've been like this since 2010, gradually loosing interest in hardstyle and listening more and more to hardcore (mainly the industrial and crossbreed side of it) since it's just way more varied
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

From 2008 to 2010 I started listening more and more to hardcore, then in 2010 the effect reversed.... So you are not the only one, but the trend might go in opposite direction suddenly :)

Taste develops, its only natural.

It's funnny how I began with hands-up and slowly switching to hardstyle and now I'm switching again going harder every time. :P

Industrial is where I'm at atm. since the kicks are most likely a winner for me. Crossbreed doesn't click for me (yet) but then again drum and bass has never been my thing. Maybe it's only a break since I've been constantly listening to hardstyle 2009 where I began.

Oh, and vinyls are still pressed in the HC scene which I find very charming.
