I've found that some producers actually master their tracks while they're working on it.

Meaning that they put their EQ, Compressor & Limiter on the master channel and then they start working on the track.

i use delay mostly because i want echo (fading repeat) and not a 'hall' effect

or use the internal reverb in vst's ;) though i can't confirm that would actually be better

Yeah, of course it depends on what you're aiming for, but I was trying to say that you can't just use delay as a substitute for reverb. And I hear the reverb on the lead in Imminent Death :+ .

'Reverb uses too much CPU'

LOL dude.. you must have a pretty weak computer if you can't just put ONE reverb on a send and route it to every single channel that's required

When EQing a lead synth, has anyone got any tips on how to increase the high frequencies without getting too much white noise?

Boost High Freq Range 5khz - 18khz , than some notches if it gets too sharp , and boost or lower 18khz-20khz to add or lower resonance , freshness.
Thats what i do as Basic than some Notches and precise cuts for finishing.
around 8 - 10 khz starts this sharpness lower that a bit more as well.
anyways its precise work and it will take some time and every Individual Sound needs different eqing.

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

I have a question that I have always wondered and never really understood. Often I see people bussing reverbs/delays when doing tracks but I don't really understand why? I mean it adds control of the reverb but is that the main reason? I'm talking all EDM genres here but ofc also HS :)

You mean a designated channel for reverb? Well I dunno, I set an individual reverb for every separate channel that needs opne, way smoother IMO :P
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

Yeah I do the same, I've just watched a few videos and read alot of people on other forums constantly claiming that one needs to bus reverbs/delays by themselves :) I'm just curious if they're just rambling or if there really is a good reason to do it :P

Well it does save CPU, you're just using one reverb/delay instead of 25 which gives people which lower end computer more space to use other effects and doesn't have to insta-bounce half their tracks, which makes it a bitch if something bounced has to be changed :).
