Mastering / mixing tuts?

Does anyone know of a place where I can learn everything I need to know about mastering and mixing? I know there are lots of tuts and guides on here but I'm not sure where to start and I need someone to point me in the right direction.

Steinberg has some dvd's about mixing. Really good, i saw them and must say they do things i never tought of before.
You should really check them out, even if you don't use nuendo or cubase.

Mastering should be done by proffesionals.

Hm. I'll have to look into those. Well, I guess what I mean is, sometimes I'll produce a track and people will say that the mixdown isnt the best or it needs to be mastered and tbh I'm not entirely sure what they mean by that. I know the basics like it should never peak, etc and I try my best to make sure that the channel volumes are equally balanced and that they sound good but I want to learn more about it so I can improve.

Mixing is a hard thing to make a tutorial on, because it's different for every track. But, there are some tutorials where people go through what they have done to their mixes, and you'll see that every mix is specific to only that track that they've done it on. They aren't Hardstyle tutorials, but the same concepts apply. Also, they are pretty long, but they may be very helpful:

I allways use Sausage Fattener on the master channel to pump it up. And an Fabfilter Pro-Q to play with the Mid&Side frequencies and to cut all the frequencies below 30 Hz and everything above 18 kHz. After that a Fabfilter Pro-L with +0,5dB.
Usualy works for me. In the most cases it sounds as loud as a normal Scantraxx song.....

i don't even need to hear a sample to know that would sound like absolute balls.

Also, on topic: forget about mastering. forget it. really. it's not worth trying to master your own tracks, most of the time, they don't even need it. Did you know that most tracks played at events by the artist that made them aren't mastered? and yet they still sound perfectly fine!

Dubspot has some good mastering tutorials, it can be a bit complicated though, Yhimself did a good one on the basics too
