Give me constructive criticism!

Post by YGD3N »

Hey guys, I'm 20 years old and from sweden, uhm.. To stat off I wanna say that I'm quite new with producing and mixing and all kind of creating and be creative.

I'm really got a passion for hardstyle/hardcore music, and just sometimes I just want to produce something that my sounds, my perspective of hardstyle.

So now I'm just in for the basics, learn to produce, and learn how to get just that sound that I want. Hope you understand where I'm going!

So, to summarise this we can start of with a track I made ( followed an tutorial ) But not every thing in the tutorial.

Made some of the things by myself.. So not 100% ripoff :) Have been useing samples because I don't have the kind of experience of creating own sounds.

And something you should'nt forget is that I been working with Fl studio 9 for just a couple days, have been playing around with it before but did'nt produce something.

So what do you guys think? should I proceed with the hardstyle and learn more?

Please be gentle, give me constructive criticism!

You have to learn a lot. I always wonder why begginers always use too little reverb on their sounds. Kick is rather old generation kick but not bad. Mix is not the best. You have to read about it in some books or things. I recommend you book written by Rhoey Izhaki about mixing. The melody isn't bad and lead in sound also but it lacks some things which make it sounds a bit more professional. I'd say you have to still learn a lot but it's normal. Just keep it up. And try to improve your sounddesign. This track is very empty. Add more FXs etc. Learn everything about synthesis and shit.

Remember that delay and reverb is your friend (sometimes overdrive too). Try to find out how the kick works and synthesis. Try to find out everything about music theory (But maybe you know it I don't know)

Thank you, yeah I know it's quite empty, what I really need to learn is what is what, lead, screech, where to put the right fx, where to cutoff and so on.

And the reverb, when do I use it ? and modern kicks? where can I get free samples ? I just wont learn right now how to create my own.. Feels to hard for me, just wanna get the melodi and the lead right first.

Kick is one of the hardest part of Hardstyle. No one is going to give it for free. (You can always rip kick :+ )There are some but they're rather shittty. You use reverb on everything (more or less it depends) delay on almost everything (you shouldn't add delay on snares or kicks).

Screech is a lead with pitch envelope ;)) OF course not those screechy sound like Headhunterz in intro just simple screech like idk maybe like in Zatox's tracks.
There is everything on this forum just search. Good luck!

Okey, yeah I know.. I use outdated blutonium boy kicks, sounds awful..

Want does Nustyle kicks, but Im tryin to learn how to make my own kicks, not simple to get kicks for free, and i rather have kicks I made by my own, that have my own special touch then "free give away if you like my page kicks"

And I don't think im gonna finish something on one day, or be a perfect producer after 1 month.. No.. hardstyle take years.

Search for tutorials on youtube and in our tuts section, get more plugins and start figuring out things. If you like producing you can go on to buy monitors, learn more about mixing, etc :)

My tip would also be not to start posting tracks on ze interwebz already, as long as you can hear that things don't sound pro, you can still figure out what you should improve yourself :) Start posting stuff when you've gained some experience and have something which sounds pro :)

Yeah, maybe some KRK's or something else :)

Okey, just wanted you guys to hear what I was capabel of doing, but it's a good tip, when it's sounds like more like a awarage good track maybe I can put It out on the internet, just to get some critisism :)

Yeah, Now im just all in for all the basic plugin programs that im gonna use at most.

Camel phat 3, hydra, apEQ, nexus, EKS-9, ohmnicide is what I´tryin to learn now.

Is sylenth 1 good for melody making?

Want the more euphoric feeling to my tracks, not the raw nexus hardstyle melody.

Well, what the others said.

Also, about "outdated" & "modern" kicks, go for whichever style you like, not what sounds "modern" at the time.

Oh nice, vad heter du på skype ?

Yeah, but I think the nu style kicks sounds more like my style, I like it more then the raw style. Want to make more euphoric sounds and melodies. It's hard right now to make it sound just how I like it, but It's just the part of learning.. It will take time, I know that :)

Hoping this site will help me on the road to achieve what I want to achieve.
