Intro Lead

Post by BaneDeBanaan »

I wasn't sure whether or not to put this in the lead topic..
anyway, how would I create an intro lead like this one? I tried in massive with distorted square/saw & tone2 filterbank, not even close :?

Here is what I got in Massive, it's nowhere near exact, but if you think it's close enough, you can download the patch. Oh, and I'm talking about once the filter completely opens up and it's playing with the kick.

And here's the preset:

If you don't use Massive, this could easily be done in most synths since it's pretty much 1 oscillator. What I did, was had 1 osc that was a mix between a square and a saw(though it was probably 80% square), then I added an LFO to the pitch @ a fast rate. I also added some vibrato to the lead, which you can achieve by adding another LFO to the pitch, but at a slower rate(something like 1/8 or so, mess around). But Massive has it's own 'Vibrato' knob so I just used that. There's only 1 voice as well. Then I added a tiny bit of glide/portamento to it, and that was basically it. In a synth where you can only choose a single waveform and not a mix between, just choose 2 oscs, one a saw, and one a square, and make the square 80% of the output, so the saw is barely audible(if it even is, I didn't check properly). Then, I just eqd - boosting some highs, cutting some lows, and added delay and reverb.
